I've hunted alot of Red dogs myself never really had a good one. I have hunted with alot and drew a many at hunts, But only one really got my attention and that was The Mellow Yellow female that Rex Griffith in North Carolina owns. Richard Lambert handled her the last time I drew her and Rex did the first time, both times she flat out could get in there and get treed with a coon. A classy tree dog with a good mouth. You boys hunting Redbones need to try and get one out of her cause she is one of the Best. And I bet Richard has some really nice ones also.

MN has its share of nice red dogs. Marcyes' Storm and Nodean's Angus are sure nice hounds. But my favorite red dog ever is a NTch female owned by Kyle [?] and TRavis [?] Benboom named Mighty Mouse. She was a super all around tree dog that operated very well in thin coon or thick coon. The In it to win it Reba dog [from WI] that has made the finals of the world the last two years is also a very nice red female.

know a couple

I handled Jackpot Jackie in a bunch of hunts during 2005 purina Race, I really formed a special liking for the little female. She gives you everything she has everytime you cut her loose. In my book she runs right neck and neck with one of the winningest females to ever walk, regardless of Breed. NIGHTY NITE MOONLIGHT KATE put on the most dominating performance I've ever seen in a 2 hour hunt the time i drew her last.

I haven't hunted with as many as some of you but I hunted with the Moonlite Kate dog when she put on one the best shows I ever saw in a two hour nite hunt. Bellars Get Ahead Lil Red is a very nice dog. Barnyard Horse Harry was as nice as anything around here in his younger days.

STORM from Minnesota......... in South GA 2 different years in thin coons, not on feeder buckets 1500 miles away from home , he was not guiding , judging or any of the above , but every time you cut him he was to himself and had a COON every single tree , every single tree, every single tree. DID I MENTION HE HAD A COON IN EVERY SINGLE TREE I think 7 singles in 2 different years we have drew him.

I liked Yellow River Red too, but I would have to say Music. She was my kind of dog.

I haven't hunted with many redbones but my personal favorite and the one I consider the best.......CH PR BAVARIAN RED PEARL......I had the pleasure of handling and hunting her for four months. Not only an action packed coondog but a good little buddy. Real good about getting split and having the coon, real good mouth, and when she treed everyone was always like, "And you said this was a Redbone???" lolol....She was out of GRNITECH PR Malley's Southern Red Colonel....RIP Pearly girl!.....

Dawn's Timber Jack and also a dog called sam owned by a old hide hunter who took me for my first coon hunt..it took to off us kids to pull that dog off a tree and that son of a gun never did turn around and walk with us. we dragged him clear back to the road, and took us two kids and old Eddy to get sam back in the trunk of that 62 chevy..old sam always had his coon and didn't like getting pulled off a tree without the fur knocked out to him.

I've never really hunted with a red dog that made me stand back and say "wow". I have seen some good dog work from a couple different red dogs, but none that made me want to get out my check book. The one that stands out the most though would have to be a 6 month old pup that is out of Taylor's Gutiar's Ghost belonging to Mr. Royce Taylor's son Thomas Taylor. The little pup got in there and looked pretty good. I don't know what the dam to the pup is, but he was a nice little prospect.

have seen some good red dogs years back, ramblin red owned by gary wells in il, ramblin red that tuffy meirs owned from il., nathan hammonds look out luke, brunswick little man, woodpecker's image, a single registered dog named jimbo to name a few... saw most of them at. u.s. redbone days when held at winchester, il. yrs. back.. my son hunted a red dog for a guy from alabama that was a real dog, got two 1sts and sent him home-he was a tough dog, one of quickest locators ever in any breed...

Very true. I hear so many people on here say a redbone can't tree a coon or they have never seen one tree a coon. They are out there if you know where to look and know where to get the pups at.

Although I have hunted with several outstanding Redbones, the best one by far was Nt Ch Jolliffes' Red Joe.....Joe was a direct son or Morans' Midnight Magic.....Not classy, just an accurate coon treeing machine.......

Gardner's Mississippi Popeye

No hair on his chest. Rubbed it all off treeing with his chest on the tree.

rabble rouser was one of the best I had ever hunted with. no bs.....just get in there and get treed with a coon. he wouldn't back dogs on slicks......neither would his daddy rat.

I would have liked to have hunted with southbranch midnight pete and a few others but they were gone before I had the chance.

Death row Joe had more drive than any red I have seen go with only 3 legs to boot.

I've drawn out with some of the highly advertised reds and I was not impressed that much but they were nice dogs, but nothing that made my head spin or anything.

I don't know if it's the dog your talking about, but I bought a pretty good dog a few years back from Mo. The dog's name was Nite Ch Borgman's Red Lad. He came from Steve Borgman. I think they told me he won the Kasco Hound of the year or something like that before I got him.
