Comparing PKC to UKC is like comparing Apples and Oranges. They both have very good points to them. Some people like UKC and some people like PKC. Some people eat Apples and not Oranges and vise versa. They both are good registries or they wouldn't be as successful as they are. You can't tell me UKC is worse than PKC, because look at the # of dogs that showed up for Autumn Oaks. Like Larry is saying though in some areas one registry will dominate over the other for different reasons. In my area there will be 3 to 1 more PKC hunts than UKC hunts. Hunt which ever registry you choose or hunt both. Doesn't really matter as long as whichever you choose makes you happy. Don't condone another man and talk down to him because he don't like hunting the one that you do.

I would go with the Cooner if I was just looking for general info. Prohound is the PKC mag, and bloodlines is the UKC mag. Cooner covers all 3 big registries. But this is just my oppinion and you know what they say about those......

I know for a fact one cast that was thrown out was legit, I was on it. When I brought this up on to PKC, they didnt even want to hear about it.

The casts it did happen on, happened because someone drove 100-150 miles round trip and was the only one besides the hunt director to show up. Rather than tell them they couldnt hunt, PKC rules say it takes 3 to have a hunt, they added a dog that wasnt there.

They barred several people, and shut down several clubs. When it was over there wasnt a club around, or anyone left quaified to conduct the hunt if there was.

So those same guys went out before the ink was dry and opened AKC clubs in place of the PKC clubs that got closed.

Now AKC gets the money PKC used to get.

It's pretty sad when a club has to add a dog that isn't there and can't just call a club member to come and HUNT! LOL

IN MY OWN OPINION... a club that can't muster up 3-4 dogs for a hunt shouldn't be operating in the 1st place...

Happens every night across the US. When pkc was told of clubs that had done the same thing for them, pkc didnt want to hear about it. Clubs operating in about every state.

Fact is the only dogs that went to a pkc hunt around here was
a)to win there $100 for ss
b)breed race or nationals.

Once the ss pups won there $100, you never saw there owners agian untill that pup was too old for ss.

That left 2 or 3 people in the area who might decide to run there breed race/ect.

Local hunters who have no plans on ever leaving the area to go to a coonhunt never got interested in pkc hunts.

hence the reason a PHOTO of the cast MUST be sent in for hunts having LESS THAN 5 dogs!!!

PROHOUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think both ukc and pkc both are very good at what they do or they would b around.i think pkc is the registry to hunt, its about all i hunt. with so many quality hunts, great payouts, truck hunts, s.s., pro hunts, state races, breed races.not to mention they have hunts 6 nights a week, so ne one can compete.and unlike sum other k.c. in pkc there is a winner in every cast, and i know dogs should have to tree a coon to win, but regardless of what happens, there will be a winner. How many basketball, football, or baseball games have you been to where there wasnt a winner? this is the order i competitin hunt.
1. pkc
2. akc
3.acha
4.ukc
i've never had to go past 2 lol.
