That would be

a question for the curator over that particular gamelands,he or she should be able to answer that.

I'm still asking question about our area, and hopefuly I'll come thru with something or go bust with it, but never quiet about it.Hopefuly a little compromise FOR THE good of wildlife and mankind.

This is

a reply from the locals on the E-MAIL I sent them,so they will responed.PLEASE e-mail them with your thoughts on some access to our hunting spots that have been open to us for over 20 years. And I'm talking about roads that have been used as roads not fire lines.

Sherry Vredenburg Sept 30, 2009

Thank you for you recent email concerning road access on the Sandhills Game Lands. Your thoughts and comments are important to us.

Closing roads is necessary to reduce disturbance to wildlife. Most wildlife species benefit from seclusion from human disturbance and this is best accomplished by limiting access by motor vehicles. Having control over the access to an area also allows us to better manage our road system cutting the cost of road maintenance. Many of our roads were installed for use as firebreaks and were never intended to be used by the public for access. We have also found that limiting vehicle access helps minimize damage to planted food and cover plots and reduces poaching of wildlife.

As hunters ourselves we realize having road access is important for many sportsman. Our road system on the Sandhills Game Lands is design to allow access to the area while leaving large tracts closed to vehicular traffic. We feel this approach best serves the interest of most sportsman. There are permits for hunters who have limit mobility that allows them to operate vehicles on OPEN-GATED and UNGATED roads. The 2009-2010 Regulation Digest gives more information on qualifying for disability permits on page 11.

If you would like to discuss the matter further contact me at 910-281-5903 and I will be glad to meet and discuss the issue.
