OMG!! When I first read this post I thought it was ridiculous! Then I went to the website and searched my area! You are not going to believe this.....................but there are 2 sex offenders in my immediate area. One of them about 1.5 miles from our house convicted of Aggrivated Child Molestation and the other on .4 miles from my parents (YES that's the house next door) and he was convicted of Child Molestation. He just moved in a month ago! My parents only live 3 miles from US!! So that's 2 convicted offenders within 3 miles of our home!!

HOLY CRAP! Thank you whoever it was that posted the link. I have printed out their pictures and plan to sit Taylor and Chase down as soon as they get home from school!!

I just checked out the site. Very interesting to say the least. We live in a rual area that is growing WAY TO FAST. We have a very WELL, WELL, known singer/entertainer that is from our general area. My oldest son went to school with him in elem. school.
Seems he has a relative that lives less than five miles from me that is listed...Last names are different, something you would only know if you knew the family names from the area. Very interesting...

Gonna go check where my grand baby lives in the middle of Memphis, TN...I am sure I will be totally freaked out when I see the results...

Just checked Aimee Jo's neighborhood in the heart of Mid Town Memphis. Not near as bad as I thought the area woud be. ALTHOUGH, there is one listed 3 blocks away and one listed in the SAME city block and the Memphis Zoo !! The zoo is walking distance from her home, right at a mile...Both of these are listed as offenders of children. I think it is good information to be able to obtain.

Not long ago there was a news story about the guy that kidnapped an 11 year old girl that he kept captive for 18 years for his sex slave. Now that is serious stuff. But the story about peeing or exposing one's self is an entire different circumstance. You can't be too careful but you can be too stupid. People need to use good judgement when it comes to issues like this. Now it makes me wonder has it ever been an issue with ukc before?

I know of a few that live around my area and I steer clear of them lol! However I do think that this should not be UKC's Responsibility but the parents of the kids instead. Keep this post going because it is very informative to everyone.

Just remember because a web site may say' sex offender look up' or something like that it does not always mean it good or safe. The two listed at the beginning of this message have been checked out good and to be the safest that we found.

My son was accused of touching a female classmate's breast in class. This female was known to try and get my son into trouble. She made the report knowing full well it would mean a 25 yr on the 'list' offense. She laughed about it. My son drew up a sketch of the class, which the teacher verified. It was impossible to have happened the way she had quoted so she had to admit she lied to try and get him in trouble. He was only 15.

Also, a teenager that has sex with a girlfriend who is barely younger, even proven consensual, will get on the list and get jail time as a felon.

The laws need to change to protect those who are NOT perverts and to also keep the list from becoming either a witch hunt type of list or, just as bad, a list that is no longer taken seriously. "my neighbor must be one of the non-pervert types.. he's too nice... and this neighbor can tell any story he likes. "I bumped a girl's chest when I was in high school and she went after me for spite." when, in reality, he could be a pedophile for all we know!

Sex offender charges need to be re-analyzed, for everyone's protection. If they were just, I'd say it would be great to have them checked out but as it is now, it's not just nor fair so I would say no. Registered sex offender or not, you need to be cautious with your children's safety when left with those you do not 100% trust. Period. If they were checked first, would you dare let your guard down? A stranger in the woods is still a stranger in the woods...

Janet, I didnt know they could put a 15year old on public display for 25 years for an accused sexual offense? hum..thats a new one. This whole message is getting off the point made. We all have opinions and attitudes about why and how the justice system works, and we all know it can be frustrating when things are not equal or fair but there always persons or circumstance that will slip between the cracks and NOT get treated fair or just. In the same note there are some sexual preditors and molesters. Those idiots out there want you to believe they are good people, but in reality they are a sly fox. Therefore, to protect those who cannot protect themselves (once again) we all need to be careful and aware of these issues.

I want to apologise if you took that comment the wrong way. I was simply trying to let S/S know that we have a SOR in TN also, being that we both live in the same state. Some databases are more current at the state/local level, than a national level, as far as addresses/statis/PO's and such. I never meant to imply those sites were'nt correct, I stated I have never been to that site, but have the TBI SOR site. I am sorry if you took it that way, that was not my intentions.

Janet is correct. I have a neighbor boy who is 16 and serving time for consentual sex with a girl. I believe the girls father pushed the charges. Hes 16, locked up, on the sex offenders list and cannot ever go anywhere near school again. Its a shame. Michigan by the way.

Folks who have paid their debt to society have as much right to be in a public place and participate in stuff as anyone ... if the law backs them and whatever venue your at doesn't mind ... but you do , then just stay home instead of trying to get the rest of the world to cater to you ...



If you don't like to smoke , then don't go to a restaraunt that allows smoking ... cook your lazy butt your own meal ... instead we got laws banning what a store owner can do in his own business ...

I agree with what several others have said on here - it is not UKC's responsibility. Although it would be nice, I don't see how they could possibly do it.

With these competitions consisting mainly of men, and myself being a female in her mid-twenties, I have to take it upon myself to be safe. I would like to think that every young and old man attending the hunts wouldn't be dangerous, but there is always the possibility.

As much trouble as it is, I always have a buddy go with me on the hunts. Usually my boyfriend. I wish I could go alone, say, on nights he has to work, but I just do not feel comfortable doing so. I have never had a bad experience at a hunt in that respect, but why take the chance? We must be responsible for ourselves and the children, not UKC...

...just need to point out here... that women can also be sex offenders! I've seen first hand what a boy abused by a woman can turn out like(an ex)....
SO... PARENTS... do your job, watch out for pedophiles of any nature. Communicate with your children and teach them how to stay safe. Make friends with responsible adults to help when they can. Women, take care of yourselves and learn to stay safe. I'm a teeny tiny little thing so my personal safety has always been an issue. I was the target of a predator as a young girl...but our neighborhood watch took care of him after I SPOKE UP the way I was taught... As a tiny little adult woman... I've learned how to take care of myself pretty well. Even though my poor old broken body would HURT if I had to use self defense..I think I'd still surprise a "bad guy"...
BUT... PARENTS are responsible for their kids, what they do and who they do it with.... WE are responsible for our kids safety and other "good guys" should be keeping an eye on kids on a cast as well. Also nice if some men act gentlemanly to the women competitors..
UKC shouldn't have to take on this job....

I am a county Sheriff county officer. If you go on line and check your home town out on the offender list. You will see that there is people in your home town, and you need to know who they are and what they did. To keep your family safe and out of harm. Anything you do can put on the offender list. If you get caught using the restroom outside of your house, or anywere else that not in a private setting. You will be charge with a sex offender statue, and have to be on the list of sex offenders.
