Message boards are created for discussion and argument. That is why they exist. Hunts have a completely different purpose. But both are plenty enough fun.

That's exactly right. I go to plenty of hunts. Most are enjoyable, a few are not simply because of poor judging or guiding or simply how someone chooses to handle they're dog, and I've virtually never had an actual argument... well except maybe the 2nd hunt of this year and I drew 2 of my best buddies, we weren't arguing but 2 of us both felt the need to get our points across in a very loud tone of voice for several minutes. It was still one of the best casts I've ever been on.

We competition hunt alot...mostly in the other kc....we'll hunt ukc to get the nitech and granitech titles..trinquits,beads and such...pleasure hunt once a week.

On the message board...all the crying is mostly due to lack of dog power and not knowing the rules..... most ALL cast in either registry are good ones.

I haven't in the last couple of years, but hope to have two dogs ready for the hunts next year. The only reason I haven't in a while is I had old dogs.

You bring up a good point! I think that has alot to do with it. The the guys you hunt with. Everytime you go to your local hunts you uselly know who the big pain in the #$#$ are before you even draw out. Over all if you hunt with a bunch of guys that don't know the rules and don't call there dog for what its doing then on top of that pencil you to death your gonna have alot of those cast. We don't have that much trouble in Northeast Ohio but I know what your saying.

The funny thing about this whole arguing thing is you can go to a hunt for a truck or a nice purse and not get in one argument. Go to a UKC hunt for a trophy or a win slip and fight all night! You dang near have to know karate to even enter!!!LOL

been to a multitude of them....win and lose just like everyone. Testing?...no..we don't need that, but we do need good sportsman hunters who will help others grow in the sport and learn the right ways to hunt, and the riight way to apply a rule, even if it means we get beat by doing so in a hunt....that is what we need. will it happen....well only a man's conscience can gudie him . PS: i know i can't spell.

I personally try to hunt Comp on the weekends i am off and other kc thru the week when i am off, generally i have had a good experiance in my casts, i have found that when the arguing and bickering starts its usually when someones hound is not performing the way the handler wants, this is when the Misinterpretation and the bending of the rules try's to start so it may benefit the the party complaining, that is why i like the majority vote, everyone vote suck it up if you loose go on hunting Its $20 dollars a piece of wood and a Yellow Slip. i have found that this behavior occurs more in the Registered casts when someone is trying to make something out of Nothing jmo

TESTING 1-2 TESTING

In this case Dave maybe there should be a pretest Test !! LOL

With example questions like:
#1 Do you own or have access to a UKC registered hound that will tree a coon that you want to put in the hunts?

#2 Have you been in five or more UKC hunts without reading the rules but have pre-conceived ideas of what they are? LOL

#3 Do you have a hound that you want to title no matter what the cost?

#4 Are you sure you want to hunt in the UKC hunts?

Then if your answer was YES to any of these questions then it would be in your and / or the cast you are ins best interest to know the rules. Hence you will need to complete the test LOL

BUT, If you answered yes to all 4 questions then you will have to complete at least 12 hours in a study group given at your local club B 4 testing !! LOL

Like I said Great Ideas start somewhere !!

i agree 100%. the people down here that cause the problems are the ones who dont know the rules. earlier in the year i hit a streak where 3 weeks in a row i drew the ones who know nothing and want to argue. it makes my head bout explode

Agreed & I also hunt the hunts from time to time. I agree with JiM I will say I don't hunt as many as I use too due to other reasons like being a grandpa which I dearly love. Other than that I still love the comp hunts.

As far as knowing the rules goes, I know em well enough that I usually get asked to judge my cast. Ive found that the better the people in the cast know the rules the less problems there is!

you just about said my entire thought process in one paragraph...
