Anybody thats got a hound knows that every single time they cut that dog loose there taking a risk, that risk also involves the handler. Iv heard all kinds of stories of hunters becoming paralyzed from falling out of a tree or a dog/coon landing on there head or being knocked out.accidents happen.

Or how about putting it this way, I sliced my hand open last year on a fence trying to cut my dog loose under it. It was my own stupidity that got me cut open, what would you do to the dog in that senario?

Oh I love the "shoot the dog" responses...yeah...a whole lot of brain power went into those posts.

Accidents happen. One of my old dogs and I do mean old she was 16 at the time nearly took my dads top lip clean off after he tapped her on the head from behind. The dog was deaf and she didn't hear him coming. It was his own fault for not stompin' the ground behind her first. The dog lived 3 more years.

After that gets stitched up put some vitamin E oil on it everyday. It will reduce the scar to next to nothing.

Got nailed Sat Night at B & T Days this year

3 times at the same tree, lol, that Black dog grabbed my rear end 3 times before I could get away. Talk about a Flora Illinois dance under the stars, granted it upset me just a little bit, but mainly the fact that the handler told me the dog would nip you after he did it and not before. I informed him in very "polite" terms that it is customary and proper to inform the cast of such habits before releasing the dogs, or at least before you go to the tree. No Blood, No Harm, but I did have the raspberry's to take home and explain to the wife.

It would have been hard not to shoot that dog. I had the same thing happen only on the hand. Had a dead coon by his back legs and dog ran up behind me and grabbed it. Only problem is he got my hand also. Two big punture marks and hurt like crazy. Nothing like in that picture though. Gezzzz thats gotta hurt.

Lesson for today... Never kiss a treeing dog. No matter how proud you are of him ... (hope you heal quickly)

What happens to a dog that bites a person if it's reported to the authorities? If the dog isn't up to date on rabbies it may not be a pleasant outcome.

Several years ago I used to keep and fool with dogs like that, make excuses, he is a hard tree dog, all that stuff. 13,000 dollars in Doctor Bills and Plastic Surgens Broke me. If a Dog offers to Bite, it better be hung in a Fence or a trap, or its in bad trouble.

Any movement coming from above or over a light blinded dog, uderstandably, will mistakenly, grab an arm face or whatever moves, thinking it is a coon falling from a tree. what they are trained to do.

i was carrying a caged coon in one hand and leading my leopard hound in the other. actually i trying to keep the hound away from the cage so that i could walk without getting tangled up. that dog was snapping at everything that moved, including my pant legs. she just about ripped my pants off and nipped my skin too. i simply put the coon down and lead her back to the truck and release the coon with her at the truck. otherwise this dog is the most gentle dog there is.

OK Bluebell,

I was just giving my opinion, This is a Vicous animal, and I would conciter it to be dangerous. My hounds dont bite me at the tree no matter what you do. If it were my hound, I would destroy it.

I have a friend that had a dog that he was terrified to touch at the tree when we first got there. He got to carrying a walking cane so he could slip that in the collr and pull the dog off.

? Would that be a scatchable offence for using a training devise?
