"Research has now shown that simply exposing fish to air is also stressful. The point here is that while some handling is unavoidable, it should be kept to a minimum, and fish should not be exposed to air any longer than is absolutely necessary." - This was my point with Dave's fish. Handling them is one thing. Allowing them to flop around on a tarp is another. "
If you're going to preach about stressing fish , you better quit fishing because the second you hook a fish and start making him fight , you're stressing it.
And who are you to say how much is too much?
Are you sating that because you only do it a little bit , it's ok. LOL
That's like saying " I only shot him once so it's ok. But , he shot him six times , so it's not ok. "
Either you agree to stressing fish , or you don't. Which is it?
" You also have to look at the money returned to the conservation of the sport. Just look at B.A.S.S., for one example. The tournaments that they have may be the cause of some fish receiving undo stress but much of the money they generate goes back into the fish, helping for better habitat and replacement of fish. This leaves the fish better, as a whole, than before they were around. "
Isn't that what our license money does?
Any money that B.A.S.S. has spent doesn't hold a candle to what our license money has done.
I've seen the DNR plant our lake with walleye with our license money , but I've never seen any of the BASS tournament guys do anything to help the lake.
