I'll bet you ruin more than you make if you whip a pup for doing what you trained/bred it do to..
Ask around how my dogs handle..
And if you think they go back because someone lets them, then you have alot to learn..
Yes, they KEEP going back because they were allowed to do so and never trained not to, BUT they go back because they were trained/bred to run and tree coon not go find a tree and bark and then leave to find another tree to bark at..
or maybe that is what you train your dogs to do, heck thats what they have to do to win major events as pups.

I dont know where you guys are getting this whipping thing for a dog returning to a tree. Shooting coon out to them has nothing to do with it either!

A solid month of giving a good stern yelling at a dog returning is good enough to train one with anything worth a dime between its ears!

These dogs are A LOT SMARTER than the average rum dum gives them credit for!

I don't care if it's a 12 month old pup or a 3 year old dog, if you know what you're doing, you can train one to not return without whipping it!

So you dont think that shooting coon out has anything to do with a dog going back?
Then tell us why do they go back in the first place?
Tell me what will a dog do that has never had a coon shot out to it or given rewards for treeing the right game?
As for the brains part, If the dogs are going back for no reason at all (as some are saying here) then that dog has less than the ones going back because there is a coon there.
I will agree the scolding does work sometimes, but when you get a hard headed or stubborn dog sometimes the scolding doesnt work.
And not sure it you know it or not or even agree, the stubborn and hard headed are usually the better dogs once they are trained properly.

Wild Dog, you can make excuses for it till the cows come home but going back is a fault the same as barking in the box or leaving trees. I know coonhunters who excuse those things also. You chose to overlook it. Fine. That you critisize those who know better isn't so fine. And how we chose to break a dog from going back, if we chose to break them, is up to each of us as individual trainers.
I HAVE BEEN ON CASTS WHERE 1ST STRIKE WAS EATEN UP AND SPIT BACK OUT ALL NIGHT LONG BY A DOG THAT KEPT GOING BACK. nOBDY COULD GET A FAIR SHOT AT 1ST STRIKE BECAUSE THAT SORRY EXCUSE KEPT BEATING A PATH BACK TO THE LAST TREE ALL NIGHT LONG. i WILL TELL YOU THIS, i'm not voting to move and I'm not walking my dog a half mile to satisfy some jackass hunting a dog that goes back all night. We will stay there and go back to handle that junk all night long if that's what his handler wants.

yup yup and yup! haha... keep getting your points deleted and wasting your $20 on a dog that goes back and shows you the SAME coon ALL night while mine has treed 3 or 4.

See who the winner is at the end of the night...

good luck Wild Dog!

The winner? It likely won't be either of you because first strike was deleted all night long. You are sacrificing 25 points everytime you cast those dogs. Are the other casts doing that? I doubt it.

Youve got me lost here Jim...

How is my 25 strike deleted when my dog is out getting split while idiot is treeing on the same tree all night?

25+ and 125+ = 150+

ive won quite a few hunts with 3rd or 4th strike and 1st tree. especially in ohio...

4 coons X 150+= 600+ thats a good score anywhere you go...

well it seem that neither of you can read, or just cant comprehend what you read so I will excuse you for for being unlearned.
BUT, if you will reread my post and do it carefully,
1st I said I wasnt making excuses just saying why they went back..
Did you understand that?
2nd, I said I didnt have that problem. So you wont be treeing trees or coons while I am going back to the same tree all night.
3rd, I will hunt with you, behind you or just anyway you want it for anything you want.
come on down, we will hunt public land in the mountain, public land in the bottoms, rivers and creeks.
I will see if I can find a corn field so your dog will get to tree one.
Now, you told me what my dog would do, (so there shouldnt be a problem) and what yours would do (again shouldnt be any problem) so lets just see what happens..
PS. my left hand is itching..anyone know what that means..LOL

Oh yea, I almost forgot..I do agree with you Jim.
It is a fault, one that can and should be fixed.
But It isnt the dogs fault, It is the trainers.
And I will agree also, it is different for each hunter how and when they choose, if they choose to break a dog from this.

That just all depends.
I dont push her in the hunts. I do hunt some just not alot.
And I am not dumb enough to think my dog wins every cast I put her in, so with that being said when I do put her in a RQE she may not win that cast.
But I do have enough confidence in her, and know she can hold her own with any of them..
I take it you have already qualified by your previous statement.
Come down a few days before and we can give it a trial run.
offer still stands.
And good luck to you also..
