who ever told you coonhounds are not play dogs doesn't know coon hounds every hound i have has learned to fetch and will catch a thrown frisbee my grandchildren play with them as pups and thats where they learn to handle only thing is only the girl hunts them with me i guess the boys were too old when they came to live with me i was working on a fence around the pasture around 3 one afternoon and up comes my young gr daughter with my best female i asked where you going she says going coon hunting i told her not when the sun is up she says julie will not 10 min later i hear julie let loose with one big bawl and starts chopping away i went to see and sure enought theres old julie under a coon that was layed out on the branch of a big oak tree. i wanted to get her a dog to show she tells me thts for old ladies i want a hunting dog liks julie

back in 2005 when it was so hot i remember one guy used to go out in the daytime. his dog would tree the coons that were out sunning themselves. i have taken pups down in the woods during the day and have had them bay up an old coon out on a limb enjoying the sun.
