The high protein high fat food is fine for a pup. I talked to my vet about it yesterday and he said the rickets is not caused by high protein/high fat. If fed past 6 months of age it causes their hips and pelvis to outgrow the rest of them making their back end higher then the front. This in turn causes them to swing out their hind legs irritating the hips further leading to hip dysplasia. Rickets is from a vitamin deficiency.

My vet deals with hunting hounds on a daily basis so he knows his stuff. At 6 months I'll change Casey to an adult formula.

Plott luvr, if you think feeding too rich of feed wont hurt em your crazy. I ve seen it. People feeding meat scraps, high in both protein and fat and then feeding a high pro high fat kibble, kicks there legs every time. Not disagreeing with your vet, but some vets havent raised dogs their whole lives.
