Once heard that Plotts don't start fights because of the tough guy he is he doesn't have anything to prove, but if another one jumps on him, he'll dang sure finish the fight. I know you can't say that there has never been a Plott that started a fight, but it's true with my dogs. Here's an example, had a stray come into my yard last year. My three young boys and I were out with my two dogs. The stray wasn't quite a stray, he had a collar and part of a chain that he had broke off draggin behind him. I called him over to see if there was a number on the collar. My male Plott was sitting right by me th whole time showing no aggression. When the dog approached me, he wasn't showing aggression either. I petted his head and everything seemed alright. Then I reached for his collar and out of nowhere he bit me. I hit him and my male hit him shoulder to shoulder, rolled him over, grabbed him by the throat and it was all over within a minute. By the way the stray outweighed my Plott by about 20-30 lbs. So obviously that Plott didn't start it but dang sure finished it!! Sometimes I think the dog that wins the fight gets in the most trouble whether he started it or not! (by the way there was no name or number on the collar, thank goodness!!)
