No, these southern dogs are worse. Way worse. It's a wonder they can find there own food bowl by themselves. Or else they could tree 8 single coons in 2 hours.

That's what I like about hunting here in MO, if you hunt all year you get:

Hot, humid, dry, wet, cold, frozen, snow, ice, fencerows, big timber, swamps, brush, cornfields, pasture, hills, flat, rolling, rivers, creeks, lakes.

Dogs get a variety and those that can tree coons in all these places and conditions I call a coondog.

come on guys you know these big hardwood forest are the ruffet huntind in the world exspecialy in october. so cold you have to wear a long sleave shirt. and you better own a good paire of walking shoose. because there ant no swamps. dont need no dam snake proof chaps neither.and cricks that are about ankle deep. sow you good old boys stay down south. cause the hunting up here would just wreck you. for that southern hunting. lol

lokl this north south thing again coon run with all 4 legs no matter where they are at my dogs can tree coon in both i bought 3 dogs from down south that once they get up here slick tree all over cause there is too much sent and they really cant run a good corn feild chase either YOU BRING YOUR SOUTHERN DOG UP HERE IN JANUARY WITH 6 INCHES OF SNOW ON THE GROUND LETS SEE IF IT EVEN GETS OUT OF THE DOG BOX LOL

I have seen to many times where dogs from up north come down here and won't hunt or get on an ole armidillo and get treed in a hole in the ground. I tell you another thing for these 100% accurate dogs come down here and that percentage will drop gauranteed!! I know there are some dogs up there that are as good as they come but if u want to test your dog come on down south to some woods decorated by hurricane Katrina and you will understand why we feel the way we do about the big hunts being up north where the same kinda dog wins everytime.

i live in the north east ga mtns coons are scarce winter temps in the teens and 20's and i expect my dog to tree coons every drop dont happen that way but he will have them a very high percentage of the time spent a month in indiana made 70 trees had atleast 1 in 65 of them and 3 slicks 2 dens i dont have dillers but im not afraid to put him where they are

Look at some of the recent world hunt winners. Seems like I remember dogs from the north being able to win in the south and dogs from the south being able to win in the north! LOL Go figure! I would guess probably 9 out of 10 dogs will require an adjustment period when they are taken from the terrain/coon population they are used to being hunted in and turned loose in different terrain/coon population. The one GLARING fact no one can deny is EVERYONE has a different interpretation of what a "coondog" is. One mans cull is another mans keeper. I guess that is what keeps this world of dogs & hunters spinning round & round. I wonder what happens when you cross a dog from the north on to a dog from the south? Do you get mid-western dogs? While I ponder these thoughts, I will continue my never ending search for one of the year round 95% accurate coon dogs that many seem to have already aquired! LOL

come to south georgia let me put you in a beaver pond or flooded swamp off the altamaha river, huntin wild coon in the rut in or around running water you will see why a COONDOG in the south is a COONDOG anywhere. we hunt 5 and 6 thousand acres of solid timber mostly management land during deer season, when you can consistently tree coons in there you know you got somethin you can take ANYWHERE!!!!! we also hunt some branches but those are the pup trainer coons they never pose to much of a challenge except in the rut you may get a couple of crazy hour plus long races but not often... i believe because we hunt in the worse conditions down here it make it easier for our hounds to succeed in the choice locations where its not nearly as difficult to get under a coon...
