TCB.....

no prob, I may have taken that a tad too serious, no problem, and ya, I guess I have seen ppl do that whole 'accidental' thing......Willscrk, I am very proud of my male, he has proven himself in some tough company around here.....yes, he and rattler are half brothers, and first cousins, I guess you would say, with their dams bein littermates, and then u take Jean, a daughter of rattler, that is doubling up on everything I like in frosty, in theory, and with her bottom side, the Triple D dogs, they are TREE dogs, that should add a lil, as she is a very hard tree dog.....thanx for the posts, yall were the ones opinoins I was kinda fishin for, some of u that are out there lookin at diff crosses, and have been around and seen coondogs from all diff lines, etc......

Cross ??

Making a cross regardless of pedigree is just like investing in the stock market. Hindsite is much clearer than forsite. I would save time and purchase a pup from a proven cross. If I was to make a wager it would be; one or two pups out of 8 might end up being average coon hounds and the rest won't be worth a plug nickle.

Blueticker....

I know what u are saying, but tell me this....how did that cross get proven? Was it just one of the lucky crosses that were 'proven' when they were born? Or did someone have to take a chance on that cross, and then take that chance again, and again.....and personally, just in my own opinion, I dont think u would know a good cross from a plug nickel....the blood in the pups that are comin are as good as anything out there, from a background of producers, so in my opinion, they will make it, but u got ur opinion too, and u are welcome to it.....by the way, how long have you been breeding hounds? And one last thought...these proven producers, were they just lucky enough to be born with the inherent right to be the proven producers, or did they gain that from ppl takin a chance on breeding this male dog to this female, after doing the research to find out if they were from proven coondogs, and of a line that is known to produce the same......now, I ranted and raved enough, and if I offended you, I apologize, but if it werent for ppl that were willin to take a chance on a good bloodline, and what should make a nice cross, you wouldnt have whatever is tied in your backyard.....and if you are doubting that my dogs are good enough to be bred, come on down, and bring your best along with your boots, and we can have a h*** of a hunt.....once again, no offense intended, eveyrone has their opinion, and thats mine......

Take it easy Cuz-------as long as the two dogs being bred belong to you, it doesn't make a tinkers **** what anybody else thinks. They are yours and you are the only one they have to suit. However, when you ask for people's opinions you aren't going to like everything that is written on here. Breeding dogs is like rolling dice. Two of the best dogs that I ever hunted with when crossed together didn't throw a pup that was worth 2 cents. You just never know. If you have made similar crosses or the same cross before, you definitely have a better CHANCE of it working, but nothing is for sure. When I breed one of my females, it is for me to get a pup. Not to sell pups or to please someone else. If no one else likes the way I bred them then that is just their opinion. They are like @$$holes, everyone has one.

Hat.......

breeding anything is like rollin a dice, but when someone comes on here, and tells me what I am breeding probably wont throw anything worth a plug nickel, go buy from someone else, that is a slap to me and my dogs, in my opinion, but once again, I have mine, and yall have yours, and have every right to them......that response just hit me wrong.....
