All my dogs have there own house, but this fall I built a big house to sleep all 3. When its cold they naturally pile into the big house. Its funny going out to feed em, give a whistle, and see 2 heads pop out, the third hound jump out, run up to eat, and sprint back to the dog house as soon as her food bowl is clean.

I was concerned with the cold temps so i crawed in the house myself. warm enough i could have taken my jacket off and took a nap. Plenty of straw, fresh water, and good feed goes a long way.

idea of the snow fall here....

this is what i am now enjoying at the current temperature of -16 below!!! i don't even want to type the wind chill...LOL! all that snow was tossed by either hand or snowthrower. my biceps verify that...LOL! ah...the joys of winter in northern illinois....

kimberly...a trip to bahamas might look ideal now....hhmmmmmm...LOL!

redhunter...be careful. ms may give you squatter rights to dog house....LOL! that's a good idea. a friend in mn always bunks two in his houses for winter cold. has never lost any in the winter either.

keep warm, ya'll

northern wisconin....

talked with fella blueticker last night. said they are use to all this severe cold and snow. i recall harvery bader up north there, telling of feeding the deer to stop the starvation. no doubt, our wildlife is suffering as well. not good.....

I stood in the silo and had to break silage with a hatchet....imagine if you will a 60 foot silagecicle... We had to break the silage up with an axe or hatchet, then shovel it out the chute, then spread it out the feeder chute....NO FUN!

I got frost bite on both cheeks that winter from doing outside chores, and not running back to the milk house often enough!
