I live in West Michigan and I kill around 100 a year and dont have near the dog power that I used to. I have a buddy that lives 6 miles from me that averages 300 a year. I never have problems treeing coon when I go out. The end of November can get a little tough. Every farmer within a twenty mile radius of me uses fly bait and coke. I hammer the same woods year after year and it just doesn't seem to matter. I took twenty coon one year out of a section and felt kind of bad for doing so. I was getting straw from the farm where I got all these coon and we found seventeen rolled up in the barn. I didn't feel bad anymore for taking those twenty. I rarely kill anything in the summer anymore, I just dont think it makes that much difference. I have a real hard time believing 77. My personal record is 22. I did kill 27 one night but that was in a big cherry orchard with a permit from the DNR without a dog. Great topic I'm still laughing at the guy who killed over 76,000.

Most we ever treed in one night here was 8. 5 in one tree and 3 other singles. To us, that is an awesome night. We don't kill hardly any, maybe 1 a year. Thats it. It's to much fun to tree them. Pull the trigger, the fun is over. We probably run the same coon over and over again, but we are only in it for the fun.

17 in one tree one nite. The dog stayed treed for three hours, one of those in rain, thunder, and lightning took the other two just to get to him.Ill never forget that nite.We gave him one aginst my will knowing what kind of walk and mess we had to go back thru but my wife insisted on it.But it makes for a good story to tell. I go back there from time to time while the season in with pups when we cant find one nowhere else.

To make 42 trees in say a 10 hour nite that would mean making a tree every 15 mins thats about as good as it gets, down here in tn its a good nite to make 3 or 4 trees. good spreads of timber are far and few between these days we spend most of our time going from one patch to another. the best hunt i've had was at the white river refuge in ark we killed 24 in two nites.

42 in a night i dont remember how many we killed though we treed a lot of doubles and triples that night but we only ever shoot one coon out per tree carrying coon gets old no sense in killing every coon your only going to average 5-7 bucks anyway when training a pup, a coon up a tree is worth a whole lot more, we are in central indiana we average over a 100 coons a yr as do most hunters around here but that helps keep our population in check

best night this yr was 29 treed 17 shot most of the 29 was singles but out over the water and it was cold enough that none of us were going swimming for a stinkin coon

At home here in Virginia

6 in one night but most night's 1 or 2 if we are lucky. We are happy if we tree 10 a month. We can go up to Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and tree 10 to 20 a night.

I never really kept track but I'm certain we've treed 10-12 coons in a night on several different occasions. Sometimes we get some doubles but mostly singles. It's been awhile since I've stayed out that late though.

Where I

live in the alleghany mnts of bath county virginia. The population isn't running over with coon but its far. No matter how many coon are in the tree our rule is to only take one if we do decide to shoot. Early season here is preaty good coon hunting. Catch coons moving from food source to food source. Its better hunting in the early months. But once late november comes and you get on a old bore coons track thats by himself and in rut you could be in for a very long walk.(more than likely straight up one of our many mountains!)

Some nights you may not even find a cold track for your cold nose dog to boo hoo around on. (haha) But if you can catch them moving we usaully put up a coon or two. Like this morning we hunting from 12:01 am to 4:00 am in the morning since we are not allowed to hunt on sundays in va. We had one slick tree that had grape vines everywhere. I knew there had been a coon there. But couldnt find him. Then we treed in two solid trees. One single and the last tree had 3 in it. It was a very good walk hunt. Covered about 3 1/2 miles this morning on the hunt. Also a pack of coyotes had to been about 8 or 10 of them started hollowing and barking not 400 yards from me and my friends that taged along on the hunt.

BUT

20 30 40 50 60 70 COON IN ONE NIGHT! That just seems unreal to me. I've never experienced anything like that. It just seems unreal. I have a ball with my small average of 1 to 5 and a night. And 5 being a very good night

77 coons equal 19,500 plus points that you will never put on a scorecard, nice to kill alot of coons but you can't complain when you go to the local hunt and get beat,

We treed five single coons the other nite. We took two of those coons. I have never had a hound tree more than 7-9 in one night and some of those were doubles.

well

9 single coons in one night would be my record. But I did tree 13 in one tree over this past summer.

9 singles around here is about as good as it gets.

If true

If 77 can be treed in one night with a few hounds the population is out of control and needs thinning. The fields must get destroyed, they get messed up bad enough around here.
