I would rather they help out the auto makers, with stipulations, then bail all the banks who made bad loans, they knew had a high chance of defaulting... After the bank bail out some stil gave huge bonus'. Your tax dollar had at work....

they are all to blame from the ceo's down to the men and women on the lines. in my opinion noone can do good enough of a job to earn millions of dollars a year! as far as assemblers $28/hr is a fair wage, if they had to pay insurance, but they dont. i know that upper managment is severely overpaying themselves, and they would be able to pay the high hourly wages to employees if they would just take a small pay-cut. that brings me back to the uaw. why do we need unions? I was in a union at my previous job (which i hope the chinese and mexicans are enjoying) before i was recently laid off. i am here to say that my union dues were the bigest waste of money i have ever made. i thought unions were designed to protect miners years ago from unfair and unsafe treatment as well as low wages. i believe that osha and various other orginazations have the unfair and unsafe portions covered. as far a wages go it has been my experience that in the manufacturing industry most of the people on the floor dont earn their pay. i probably just made a few people mad, but look at your job and ask yourself if you were paying someone to do your job what would it be worth. i know at my previous job i was way overpaid for the amount of work i actually had to do. sorry if i made any of you upset but its just my opinion.

i say bail them out but go in there and get rid of the union and the big wigs. modify the wages and retirement benifits in a fair way. make the big 3 make good miliage affordable cars and lean more to getting away from fossil fuels. cars wouldnt cost soo much to develope and build if everyone wasnt makin soo much money. no one person needs to make millions to make a living.

The funny part about this is that it would be cheaper than giving the 3 big bloated businesses money.

And yeah the unions have well outlasted their purpose.

Well you know if I'm watching tv, or have a chance to make a quarter, I'll make the quarter. If you don't think so I'm sitting here watching the Titans but if you need something from my store I'll be there in 20 minutes lol...

What I'm saying is it seems to me I value a quarter more than wagnor does a 182 billion $ company and 14 million $ paycheck.

Heres how the housing market has affected me personally...

In 2000, I employed 5 salesmen, 1 secretary, 6 crews of 2 installers each for a total of 19 people including myself. As of today I have 1 salesman and 1 crew of installers for a total of 4 people including myself.

In 2000, my average monthly sales were 45,000 $. NOT profit that I put in my pocket every month, just money ran through the store before the first penny was paid on operating cost. This year my average monthly sales were around 9,000$. NOT profit mind you as case above, before one penny was paid for operating cost. And I did manage to squeeze in a small raise for them.

To be honest, like the other 15 stores that sell the same thing I do, I should be out of business. The only difference is my business is my livelyhood. My business is how I drive instead of walk, live in a house instead of under a bridge, wear clothes instead of rags and fill my belly instead of going hungry. There is nothing 'worldly' that is more important to me than my business. Without it, I'm depending on food stamps and a unemployment check from the government, which means you. I put my personal money back that I made in the 90's and that is the only thing that I have survived with in the 00's. Now, its about gone.

I don't live in a 8000sf house in a gated community. I don't have a chauffeur to drive me where I go. I don't have a private jet if I have to go out of state. I don't have a private booth at Lions stadium. I don't belong to a 25,000$ a year golf club. I don't have 100 suits in my closet. But what I do have is a 975sf house, a 07 GMC Sierra, 7 sets of clothes, a nice neighborhood and a refridge and freezer full. I am very happy with my life and thank God everyday for His blessings.

So I have done everything I can think of to keep my business afloat. I will not wait for my business to fail and then ask the government, the bank or anyone for money to help me out. If it fails, then so be it. I'm going to the house with a lesson learned, and figure out now what do I do.

I have to ask again. How do these people sit at their desks and watch their business go down the drain? You and me both know this isn't something that just happened one day. These folks have known for months upon months, if not years, where they were heading. Why did'nt they make the adjustments they needed to, when they needed to? I see it like being in the service. If a grunt messes up who gets the blame? It goes to the top.

How do people blame the workers for this mess? I don't care if they are union or not why is it a mans fault that gets up every morning and kisses his family goodbye, goes to work, and does what his boss tells him to do?? Did the workers tell the top brass to make a 80,000$ hummers and corvettes?? Did the workers tell the top brass to make a vehicle that gets 13mpg?? Did the workers tell the top brass to change from metal parts to plastic?? Did the workers tell the top brass to make a vechicle as cheap as the laws will allow and still be somewhat safe?

Now, I probally told more than I should have, but I want you to understand why I feel like I do.

I fear Wipeoutfan's nightmare has came true only it did'nt take obama to do, its already happened under bush. The only difference to me it seems, is this. Socialism for the rich, capitalism for the rest. JMHO there are millions out there...
