Mike, who is #1 and who is #4 in the BCS?
Isn't #1 also undefeated?
So your saying Florida will do to the Tide like what Bama did to Miami?
Mike, if your a true SEC fan, you know as well as me that an SEC vs SEC matchup compared to an SEC vs (any other conference) is in a different league.
The SEC had 5 teams in the Top 10 at the same time until they had to play against each other.
Take LSU last year..............You reckon playing Ohio State was as hard as playing a regular season SEC game?
Remember they were a 2 loss team who won the National Championship.............Give you a hint what conference those losses came from. First letter is S, second letter is E, and the last letter is C.
They lost to an 8-5 (4-4 SEC) Arkansas and a 8-5 (3-5 SEC) Kentucky................notice the conference loss on each team?
My point is your not playing a team like Miami from a different conference.
Your play a team from your own conference..........again, oranges and apples.
Look at SEC football.........there is no comparing playing a game outside the conference compared to playing a game inside the conference.
You can look back on history and try to compare teams Alabama played but fact is, SEC vs SEC is in it;s own league.
I'm not sure how my original post got to SEC vs. everyone else. The point being Alabama will be playing a very powerful team in Florida. Just as they did in the 1993 Sugar Bowl against Miami. Florida has arguably the fastest player in college football in Percy Harvin, just as Miami did in Lamar Thomas. Bama was/is a double digit underdogs. Bama hasn't won a lot of games pretty of by a large margin, just like in 1992. Just stating similarities, it happened once it could happen again. Who knows Rashad Johnson might just run down Percy Harvin from behind and strip the ball. Just like George Teague did to Lamar Thomas who was much faster on the clock. Emotion can cause stranger things to happen.
As far as my loyalty to the SEC, my middle name is Bryant. I went to my first Bama game in 1966. I have degrees from Auburn and Alabama. I've seen my share of SEC football. With that being said, I believe the SEC is the best conference the majority of the time. However, I am not kennel blind nor am I conference blind. This year overall the Big 12 is the best conference as is evident the way the SEC finished up with the non-conference play. I do believe an SEC will win the championship. Just don't think they are as deep as the Big 12 this year.
I may be wrong about all of this, after all you have Sheepster agreeing with you.
