keep it up and you will figure out there is more than one bad outcome from killing so many coons over a dog. I've never been impressed by a meat dog but at least your enjoying yourself congrats.

hey bud just tune out all the people tellin ya to keep from killin all the coons you tree. i live in central ohio and my great grandpa grandpa dad and me has been killin every coon we tree in the same area and have yet to thin down the population yet. its best to kill em all if your in a high population to keep from diseases spreading. if you ever get your woods you hunt thinned down go into town set traps around trash and what not and relocate them to your woods as simple as that

Wow Big Coons.

That is a dog worth bragging on. I like meat dogs. Mine can't win a cast because they might meet me 20 feet off the tree and minussed for"putting their head down and going back on track" before they get back on the tree all in 5 seconds.LOL. The best I have done so far this year with a pack of dogs is 8 coons, average 5. killed 45 so far. The manager wants me to get at least 125. I was told to kill every coon I tree. Some other fellows that used to hunt there could not follow that simple instruction so I have the place to myself. I usually average between 75 and 150. Hunt about 2-3 nights aweek till midnight ,hopefully. Been doing that for 20 years now. They always thin down some by late february probably whether I had anything to do with it or not. From what I read I ought to have the tree happiest dogs around. Good luck with your hound.

Nice.

We have thick coon here too. Sure is nice when you can have a good kill night and not even put a dent in 'em.

I dont know where you hunt but around here its hard to tree 5 if you hunt all nite. The dogs are lucky to get one a nite. It really does them no good to have all them shot out to them if they will tree an have the meat why shoot all the coons you can tree em over and over during the off season or whenever when you shoot one youll never get to tree em again and have all that fun. Plus if you ever wana guide a cast they are plenty to tree. JMO

we have tons of coon here in MI. Jeff may be like me, this time of year its hide huntin time, little extra money for christmas

I feel the same way. Nobody expects a trapper to take 6 and then turn the rest loose. There are few things more honorable than fur taking, This whole country was opened up by fur takers. It was clear from the first post that these coons were taken in Michigan, not South freakin Georgia. As for this bunk about too many coons ruining a dog, if does you ain't lost much. What good is a COONDOG that can't have coons killed to it?

That explains it. It must have been more socially acceptable to kill them back in the ancient times. LOL Before half the folks on here started coonhunting.

I agree Jim. A trapper can got out and run a line of over 100 traps. That's all and good and if they have an incidental catch well no biggie
