Rip... You know I have a lot of respect for you, so I know you won't take this the wrong way. Exactly how many patients in England are under your care?
quote: the folks in England are proud to wait their turn in line for 2 years to get a knee replacement.
2 years? In 2007 it was average 157 days on 90%. Maybe they have fell way behind since then.
Questionnaire from england patients rate your thoughts on your visit/stay to doctor/hospital... 32% excellent, 32% very good, 22% good, 6% fair, 3% poor. (2008)
Had medical problem but did'nt see doctor because of cost...UK 4%, USA 34%. (2008)
Did not fill prescription because of cost... UK 8%, USA 39%. (2008)
Did not follow up on recommended medical treatment because of cost... UK 6%, USA 36%. (2008)
quote: One of the HUGE costs of healthcare here in the US is lawyers.
Only thing that proves is lawyers charge to much. I'm curious as to what are your feelings on this guys thoughts that "That puts litigation costs and malpractice insurance at 1 to 1.5 percent of total medical costs." http://prescriptions.blogs.nytimes....lth-care-costs/
Rip look at some of your responses... "It's deemed too expensive", "it costs too much money to keep you alive", "because it's "too expensive" so people die." You give alot of reasons why healthcare is so 'expensive'. You basically agree that the system isn't working because its too 'expensive', and the 'business' itself is causing it to be too 'expensive'.
Personally I don't care what cuba, england, guatemala, or canada healthcare is like. I don't live in any of those places. I do live in the USA and I agree with OkieDawg there is too much 'unfair' profit in it because we are talking about peoples lives. Lets just say a cardiologists treats 5 people a day x 365 days=1825 people a year at a salary of $400,000.00 a year. All the sudden out of those 1825 people, 182 lose their healthcare insurance. You think he will stand for his salary to be cut for treating fewer people?? NO. He will raise his prices on the others to make his $400,000.00 salary. I will even carry it a step further, if 1824 of those people lost their health insurance, do you think he would stand to have his salary cut?? NO. And that is EXACTLY what is wrong with healthcare. The more people that don't have healthcare insurance, the higher healthcare cost because they WILL NOT take less money than they KNOW they can get away with.

"Kim Jong-Un speaks and his people sit up at attention. I want my people to do the same.” An actual sitting US President said that. Let that sink in.
