No you didn't upset me, Your right, thats the whole idea, I wanted a pup out of him and thats what I got. I thought well, if all goes well with selling the rest of them great, if not oh well. I'm just surprised at how different the coonhound market is from, for example labs. Growing up with labs and how they sell really took me for surprise with coonhounds. Not that I'm upset with this, but very surprised. I do know what you mean by reputation, and having titles etc. and that does make a difference, because I too shop the same way, (my local rep is very good, and I'm down a couple of pups now due to locals finally buying them) but I never thought papers and titles would make this much difference, because even labs have titles etc. but, even unregistered labs still sell for good prices. I should have seen it coming, but oh well, that just means I need to title these dogs and bolster my marketing and have websites, etc. if I want to get a few hundred a pup, to me I'm not sure thats worth it for that purpose, but hey, I'm just doing it to get a coondog for myself anyway, if I spread his bloodline around the world great, I'd love to, but it may or may not happen, Not sure I'll take it that far, we'll see.
I used to do the night hunt thing every night, but this was before he was registered, so I always hunted b&t's for my good friends in WI, MN, Iowa, 6 days a week I was in the woods and night hunts all weekend and maybe on weekdays too, so yes and no to my AGE being a factor, because I do believe its the MILES, I've judged and guided and hunted many many hunts. Thats why I made the name THE GUIDE a few years ago when I joined this forum.
Thanks for the input, I'm just trying to get a feel for what who when where and how pups will sell.
