i didn't say anything but that the dog was fat and doesn't need to sit in the lot and not be hunted. . . . .then she started in on my computer hunting and i got smart cause she did. .. . . . . . i stated my opinion and she didn;t like it and got mad. . . . . .and the funny thing is I WAS TELLING THE TRUTH. . . . . . . . . and i know everyone else was saying stuff but the vet most likely told her the same thing I told her

hey me too. . . . . . . im all for her hunting but not letting her dog sit in a lot and get that over weight. . . . . she would be more than welcome to come get my dogs and take them AND her dog hunting. . . . . .but not let her sit there

Im a vet teck student and my first guess would be bloat and you REALLY should get her to a vet because it will kill her if thats what it is.

She KNOWS the dog is overweight and had posts on here asking how to get some weight off her a while back that a bunch of us had already seen. It seems you hadn't, which is fine. THIS post was different... her dogs sides were bloated out in ad NEW way. I could see it in the pix since I had looked at a bunch of pix before of her. She TOOK the dog to the vet and fortunately it wasn't bloat. She needed a bit of a hand in a scary time.... she already knows her old gal is overweight and has been getting her on a diet, etc...

I think it IS important to keep our animals from getting overweight. Liz had already been trying...and her parents dont help her in that... since they like to spoil their pets like a lot of people do.... I have NO problem telling someone they need to get some weight off a hound...but this wasn't a great place to do so.
This hound has a great home in her older years despite the fact she got a bit "plump".....

Hey, Liz- Glad it wasn't bloat. It sure looked like it could be and that is a scary thing to go thru. I'm sorry you'll end up footing the bill BUT... better safe than sorry.

Have a good day, Happyhunting Heather

Liz, dont worry about what people say about your hounds. She may be on the heavy side, but beauty is more than skin deep! lol I have an old girl, who's built just like your hound. She weights about 85 lbs, and no matter how little you feed her, or how many nights you hunt her, she looks the same way. All my dogs I keep on the thin side, but this ole girl is just different. When God made her, he forgot to put in thin thats all! lol. Some hounds, no matter what you do they're gonna be chubby...just like some people. I think your hound looks just fine!

Don't let it get you down, you have shown to be very passionate about your hounds and thats more than respectable. I sent you a pm let me know what you think. Ill help you out any way I can. My wife and I are comin up to wisconson to Christmas Mountain in 3 weeks. How far are you from there. {Dells} We can talk to your parents about the offer if need be. Keep your head up, I wish everyone was a passionate about their hounds as you are, this board would be a better place. Jeff (1-641-414-3790) give us a call sometime would like to talk to ya.
