Maybe you should stick to worm meds dosed for dogs if it put you that close to OD'ing your dog. When I use the horse paste wormers I always put it onto some bread and mix it with peanut butter so my dog will eat it. No chance of misdosing a dog by shooting it into their mouth. You have to be careful but it's not rocket science. One click per 50lbs. Comes out about like the amount that a new pencil eraser would look like. Two clicks would be double that length.

I will never understand why you guys worm with cattle and horse wormers and wonder why your dogs die at 7 or 8 years old

it is the exact same ingr. that are used on dogs. WHAT YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER IS DOG AND HORSE WORMER COME IN DIFF. MG PER ML. So actually a 50# dose of the horse wormer (OR ONE CLICK) is good for a 75 lbs. dog. praz. and ivermectrin have been given in streangthc of up to 20 times the recommended dosage WITH NO SHORT TERM SIDE EFFECTS) again, the equimax is better then the zem. gold, it has the same amount of ivermectrin but twice the amount (14.47 %) of the praz. for the tapes.

my mom and i used to have horses, well when we would go down to worm the horses and mules(15 at one time) once a month, we would throw the piece of tubes over the fence, and the "yard dogs"(7 or 10 at any given time) would lick the tubes.
Well on one of the vet's trips we asked her if it would hurt the dogs. She said no they just dont have any worms. Only ever had one dog pop positive for heart worms. He was too old to be treated by that time. He was a basset/chow mix (odd i know) his hips gave out him before the heart worms got him, actually what killed him was a combo of his hips and he couldnt get out from under the truck fast enough so my mom accidently ran over him.

Done some research and dogs need 5 mg per pound, zimectin gold has 454 mcg per pound, praziquantel. who knows how many mcg's equal a mg, or visa versa?

best I can find, there are 1000 mcg in a mg, that would mean you would have to give a 50 pound dog, 600 lbs worth of Zimectin Gold. thats the praziquantel.
