He's there best QB, but im guessing they were getting a little tired of having to beg him to come back after every season. He does all this after the Packers draft, what 3 QB's this year. They're not gonna win a Super Bowl with him or without him this year.

the Packers don't want Farve back...

so why offer him $20 million to stay home? why don't they just release him?

I think:

1) they are afraid if they release him, he'll end up in the super bowl on another team.. or..
2) they think if he stays retired & their three QB's start to struggle, they can get Bret to come back (the 'ole Jeff Fisher move)....

in 1999 Fisher made similar move (Fisher cut Neil O'Donnell & made (third string QB) Billy Volek the Titans back-up).. instead of going to another team O'Donnell retired (lucky for Tennessee)... McNair got hurt early in the season.. Volek took over as starting QB.. Volek got hammered and ruptured his spleen and was done... the Titans called O'Donnell and he came out retirement and lead Tennessee to the play-off's.... McNair came back in the play-off's and that is the year they went to the super bowl...... if it had not been for O'Donnell the Titans wouldn't have even made it to the play-off's that year.....

He must be coming to Detroit then.

I hated that he owned Detroit, but I sure wouldn't mind seeing him handle the pigskin for the Lions.
