If u like the truck, fix it. Not a bad hit at all. I've fixed much worse, some that should have been totalled. Also seen some totalled that should have been fixed. I'd guess that the motor isn't up but the radiator support is down.

As for fixing it in a day, not an 8 hour day. maybe 24 hr. day.

BRYAN J - The insurance claim adjuster said that the Dokota's hold thier value.. Since that is a quad cab 4x4 and in good condition it was worth 12,500 he said that it had to have at least 85% damage of the value... Which it only has about 6,000 right now before the shop can get it in to look at it which they are 2 weeks behind.. The adjuster couldn't even get the hood up to look at the motor and he said that he knows there will be additional damage than what he can see.. We choose a shop that was busy thinking that they are better cause everyone else wasn't...The insurance guy said that the truck will be excatly like it was before which I do not believe but that is another story...

cutlassjames - Husband said that he really like the Timberlines... Good in the snow, ice, mud, rain, etc.. He also said that he likes the tread pattern and they wear good those have been on there over a year.... They still have a year or so worth of tread on them. They are little louder than I liked but I would buy another set and just turn up the radio. Ha


NY_BLUES - I personally like the truck but have always heard they are never the same and always have problems...

If repaired back to preloss conition it will be the same. Ususally a busy shop would be a good shop. I would fix the truck for you if you were closer to Ottumwa Iowa. We are backed up 3 weeks now too.
What the adjuster is telling you though is correct. Some companies % are different too. 75 to 85 % of the value before a total.
AS hard as this hit I would make sure the box didn't come up and hit the back of the cab.

Steve I thought the same thing
8 hours to fix that truck. I want to hire him! Fix it and no come backs! Be worth alot of money to have a tech. like that.
My tech. would have 4 hours in setting up the full anchoring system for checking the frame and gauging it with our lazor equipment.

Yeah Steve we have alot of work, but we have 8 techs that keep it moving. Takes alot of work to turn 50 to 60 hous each for the week.

bent frame doesn't mean totalled. it just means you have to straighten the frame.i say not totalled. 3500to fix is my guess.

Got a question for you!!! We Just got the truck back today!!! Looks nice but still has some issues.. LOL When we picked it up the guy told Shane that is drives bad but said it was due to the size of the tires on it.. Didn't have any problems before the horse accident. We plan on getting the tires rotated and rebalance tomorrow.. When you get up to around 50 it will shimmy the stiring wheel and then quits then when you get up to around 65 it does the same thing.. It also when you turn real sharp it pops in the front end.. Any suggestions??? Ended up costing around $9000 to repair with all the damages..
Any thoughts would be appreicated..

How new are the tires?
Tires cause alot of problems. Even though you say there wasn't a problem before we tend to always think that the vehicle will never be the same! Just nature of the beast. I would rotate and balance tires forsure. We have a machine that can road force balance tires as well. More accurate and can tell if tires are no good. Tires on a dakota are usually pretty big. make them show you a print out on the alignment and tell you what it means.

Popping noises could be bushings in the front and could be related maybe. Don't give up with the insurance company on complaints. Let me know after the balance of tires.

IMO that truck never shoulda left that shop til that problem was fixed. Never heard of a shimmy due to large tires. I'd put new tires on and if the prob still exists, I'd take it back to the shop.

Yeah Steve big tires sure should not cause a shimmy. Rotate tires see what happens. I would take front and put on rear. Rotation on the tires would be the cheapest thing to do first.

Work with the shop and let them know your concernes. If they are a reputible shop they will do everything they can to make you completely satisfied!

Had the tired rotated and balanced today.. Still shimmy's but not that bad will probably still take it in and get it re-looked at.. Tires on the truck are in good shape.. That is gravel dust we live on a gravel road..

gravel road or not didnt shake before,i had a nice s10 4x4 won shows with it and all. rolled it one night got it fixed argued with the jnsurance the body shop it never drove right again sometimes it would shake sometimes it would pop,the body shop said they couldnt find anything wrong with it but keep it a weekend put it on the interstate and ray charles could see it was not right, finally got aggrevated and sold it.

Going to throw something else out there at ya.
I know sometimes the gravel road vehicles accumulate alot of dirt and dust in the wheels. After washing all the dust/dirt will settle on the rims causing a terrible shake. Check rims for caked dust/dirt on iside especially.

The truck was washed and waxed so I am not thinking that would be it... Truthfully it doesn't do it much but still can feel it...
