I don't know if it counts or not, since they didn't actually TREE it, but some friends of mine found a dead man in a tree stand one night.

A few years ago a friend and I treed a coon up a real tall tree on a canal bank and shot it out to the dogs. As it was falling a huge owl swooped in and grabbed it and lit on a lower limb. The racket it made was a shock to both of us and scared us a little until we figured out what was going on. We thought we had lost the coon but the owl could not hold it because it was a big boar and it fell to the ground, I'm not going to say what might of happened had that owl been a bit stronger,

Treed a Gray Fox once.

Treed a Gray Fox once, and even a ground hog back when I was a youngster. We almost shot out the fox, it was curled up, luckily the other guy said it didn't look right

Over the years, I have treed mink, ground hog , grey fox ( yes they can climb very good) and several times treed Flying squirells. If you havnt seen flying squirells , your missing out.. Usually there are a whole bunch of them in one den tree and when you shine a light on it , they start flying all over the place , its pretty freaky and the dogs go nuts. Thankfully , I have straighter dogs now days.. lol

We were walking to a tree one night and walked right into a nestful of Buzzard hatchlings. Three of them all hiding amongst a dead log on the ground. We were walking over it when we heard something hissing, almost like a natural gas well. Low and behold it was these Buzzards still with their white fluffy feathers hissing at us! They weren't in a tree but it was still pretty cool!

I'm still waiting on one of our hounds to tree a Sasquatch, we have many sightings reported around here! lol.......

Strangest things in tree.

Flying Squirrels.
Mink.
Weasel.
Groundhog.
Turkey and Coon in Same Tree. Found Turkey First.
Possum and Coon In Same Tree. Several Times.
Worst of all, I've seen trees with NOTHING IN THEM!

Strangest thing I've ever seen in the woods was foxfire (the wood glows in the dark when moist). I was a little nervous walking into that (kind of ghostly). Took a piece of that wood home. It quit glowing when it dried out.

In Feb. i cut my dogs, one went South and the other North. I went to the one South first. Then the dog North was treed about a mile from where i cut him. Went to him and he had a coon. It had been dead long enough to swell and stink. It was low, i think someone had shot it out and let pups tree on it. I treed a dead one. Trott.

back about 15 yrs ago i had two pups out hunting. they got treed in the middle of a corn strip where there was a grass waterway. there was a choke cherry tree that had been cut down but not blocked up yet. the pups had a coon treed up in the tree top, the coon only had it's back legs. no front legs what so ever!! it walked around on top of the limbs like a parrot...funniest thing i ever treed. i took a pic. of it and kept in in my wallet till it wore out!!

By the time those BOOO Ticks finally treed... the coon was skinned and hanging on the shed and the walker dogs were fast asleep in the kennel.

It would be kinda weird treeing a skinned coon on a shed, right???

LOL LOL LOL!

I wouldn't say this is wierd, but last year my hubby and his brother went hunting and made the infamous "last drop" The dogs treed on a huge oak tree and his brother shined the tree and said "yep i see the coon!" so my hubby came to the base of the tree and shined after him and said "hey brother, shine up about 4 foot, that's no coon!" it ended up being a huge black bear! LOL We also had a dog tree a pine martin once.

strange

I had a coon in a roll cage dragging it for my plott puppy. Of course my "redneck engineering" did not hold and the coon was able to pop out. I watched the coon take to the woods and let the pup go. She went in hard after him and it took longer than I expected for a strike... tree bark or anything... well I go walking in and she starts booger barking and I hear lots of water splashing... she has run across a goose laying on a nest... the goose is spread winged chasing the pup in circles in about 1.5 feet of water. The goose flys into low limb and the pup trees.... HARD. She treed a goose.

Woke up one morning and my old dog that was 12 at the time and just ran loose was treed behind the house, went to check and he had a ground hog treed. Don't know how long it had been up there but it was starting to have trouble hanging on.

Had a young female I was getting started and as we were almost back to the truck one night she came treed. Was really laying em out. We went back to her and she was on a tree about as big as your leg. It had a hole up about 4 feet and my buddy ran a stick in it, then out of a hole in the bottom ran two mice.

My Dad and my Grandpa had tow pretty good dogs when I was young and they treed one night and all they could find was a rabbit in the fork of the tree with is head missing.
