Mark,
I couldn't have said it better myself. I agree with you when you can't find what you want within the breed then maybe you need to change breeds. Lord knows we've hashed this thing over this Rock dog in the black and tan breed enough to drive us all crazy. I hope that someday we will see UKC step up and take a huge step by making it manditory that every dog or litter of pups be DNA'ed before they can be registered. That is the only way we will ever stop the false papers on dogs. PKC has a place for this and if someone wants to do this then thats the place for it. I am also ready to see my breed close the books on single registration, my reason for this is because of the crossbreeding becoming so popular it will only bring more of these crossbreeds in as single registered.

Mr Clark, I hunt coonhounds OK. I wouldn't care if UKC called a half breed the best, I WILL hunt my BLUETICK "COONHOUNDS" and I gives a dang about a half breed. If UKC ever tries to Register a cross-breed dog as a "BREED" I'll also vote against it and as far as being CRAZY......

.come on JIM.....Just because your Walker caught your Bluedog don't mean you gotta dog me out cause I don't want one of those "HALF-BREEDS" I could care less if anyone agrees with me or not. I don't believe in REGISTERING cross bred dogs. **** man,,,,,,,,,it couldn't even be a BREED. It could be a mix of many different options. So my VOTE..........................NO!

Well said, Mark Hauck, and Allen Payne.

About the only thing I can add is that we had crossbred or grade hounds years ago and if they were so much better we'd still have them today.

I think this crossbred thing is just another fad. I think some are thinking that crossing coonhound breeds is really "out there" and "cutting edge" but if I understand it right, anything can be crossed and registered as a crossbreed. Its kind of a catch-all category. I can't wait to see the first St. Bernard crossed on a bluetick that wins a cast somewhere or a feist crossed on a walker that comes out on top and is declared the next best thing. If nothing else, it should be entertaining.

I think single registration has always had its place, but Allen has a good point. If it can't be administered properly and strictly, then we're better off without it.

One last thought on crossbreds and I will let it go.

First of all I think all registries should have DNA testing.
Any pup that has a ukc registered dam and sire should be registered as a crossbreed.
This is not a breed I agree and the name says it all "CROSSBRED"
This pup should be allowed to hunt in the UKC hunts and receive points and awards just like the others.
Why not have a Grand Nite Champion "Cross Breed".
'Now I will burn in hell also for this last statement"
I love blue dogs,I like the way they look and I like the good noses. But you will very seldom see a blue dog that can compete with a good Walker. And this excuse that its because there are so many Walkers is just an excuse.Ask yourself Why are there so many walkers? By the way I have never owned a Walker dog.I also think these comp. walkers have bred to the point where they are very fast track,Too hot nosed, and too many slick trees. If I put my blue dog's nose and ability to locate on a walker I will have accomplished what I have set out to do.

This is just my opinion and every body is entitled to one. "time will tell"
