Lionslayer, Thanks for putting up the great pics. Have had only two redbones ever, my old one would only bark twice at a tree then sit and wait for that cat to come down. Had to actually put my hands in his mouth and pry his jaws open to get him off a cat, every time. Only wanted to fight them not tree. Is dead now, the other one is still with us he was pretty sketchy as a young dog. The best thing that ever happened to him was getting slapped around in a bay up. Work's 200% better now that he hates cats. Thanks to you guys for keepin me entertained while I was recovering. Time to go back to stompin on some monster cats!!!

Really a nice tom. You don't see many with split noses around here anymore. Not enough competition for females I suppose.

Always love the ones in big country that pull up and tree where access is easy. Had one earlier this year that you could have had to pack a overnight bag. Treed 50 yards of the road. Rather be lucky then good any day!!!!!!!!

(REDBONES) the real deal

hey mark

those are some good looking dogs running those lions. Are you planning on selling any puppies in the next few months. My pack of hounds could use a little red in them.

same breed treeing COONS AND LIONS

why does it seem that some of the more experienced lion houndsmen believe that they need a special dog to tree a coon. Seems to me if you hunt your dogs consistantly they can do both?

can anyone correct me on my findings????

coon - lion dogs

They can most certainly do both. I have seen it first hand time and time again. A good coon dog can make a good lion dog and vice versa. The people I hunt with run their dogs all year round. They run coon in the spring, summer, and fall and then run lions in the winter. I believe you will have a better all around dog if you run them on both all year long.

I don't know why people think that a dog can't be used on more than one species of game. Both of my dogs have nite hunt titles and I use them on lion and bobcat in the winter. I know a lot of guys that use their dogs on coons and cats. I think it's funny to see how some people advertise a litter as big game bred when the papers are full of titled coon dogs. It seems like every litter of cross bred dogs is advertised as "big game dogs" and I hear a lot of guys say this dog isn't much of a coon dog so it needs to go to a big game hunter. A good dog with brains will catch whatever you want it to with the proper training. A good hunter with brains knows that a good dog can be used on multiple types of game.

Ryan, no need to be sorry. I just thought the dog in back looked a lot like Boomer. Looks like your pup is putting it all together.

WOW!

Beautiful red dawgs! Gave me some chills. One of them must have reminded me of the redbones I coonhunted with as a kid. (I have some memory loss so I'm not sure which dog).... Really Cool though. Seeing them working together, seeing how varied the shades of red are and seeing how athletic they all look...VERY NICE! Nice lion too.

Thanks for sharing!!! HappyHunting, Heather
