They're in Virginia but was rumored they were all released in dense deer population to serve as a predator to help manage it. I've also heard from old timers they are not native and were all released here or in surrounding counties or states.

We had one around here a couple of years back. A woman saw it lying on her hay wagon, it got up and walked off. She got pcitures of the tracks. Right near her place, there was a pitbull that was tied to the front porch, (just to get it out in the morning, not all the time) and something mauled it. The vet who saw the dog said it was a big cat that got to it, not another dog.

Of course Fish and Wildlife said it was not possible and if it was possible, it was one that had been a pet, and besides that, it was not legal for anyone to kill it.

The sightings stopped after a while. We figured someone did the SSS thing.

Talked to a man tonight that will not hunt one part of northern parts of NC. He has treed a lion 2 times up there.
I said they should not be any around and he laughs and said
they should open a season for them up there.lol

I watched Monster Hunters the other night. They set up trail cameras and bait in several different places where people " claim " to have seen them and they couldn't seem to find them. I think there is alot of story-telling going on. LOL
They're supposed to be here in Michigan too , but if so , why haven't one of our many bobcat hunters treed one yet?
I run bears and bobcats with my hounds and just can't imagine anyone being afraid to put down on one. I'm sure a few of your bear hunters down there would try and tree one if you were to show them some tracks.

Where I live in NC there is not any black bears here. Only in the Mts. and way down east. But 3 years ago one was killed on the road in Mocksville, 200 yrds from Davie Co. High School. Must have been someones pet bear lol.

seen 2 of them

About 2 months ago I saw one gold color on Ft Bragg(NC) eating a deer. Some of the people here have pics of the cat. About 3 years ago I ran across one in Manchester state forest in SC. That one was black and I didn't seem to bother it at all. Just kept on walking. But I know if you shoot them and get cought you are going to loose a lot of money! But they don't live in SC or NC according to DNR.
