On a buddy hunt at B&T dayswe treed on the front pourch post of a house. The coon had gone into a hole in the ceiling. We knocked on the door but the people never came to the door so we gathered dogs and left.

treed one night a couple months ago in an old abandoned state hospital building... walked around it about 6 times with the tracker thinking the signal was bouncing off of the brick building... could barely hear them up in the top floor... they went through 2 small window panes in the front door... the building was all locked up so we had to go get a security guard at about 1am to open a door... needless to say since the building hadn't been opened in about 20 years... we had to get someone else out there to cut a lock off to get in... the dogs were barking treed on the top floor below some open rafters. Took about 3 hours total to get them out of there... what a night!

My dog got treed in a Harvestore silo. didn't see any thing. looked again and I saw one trying to crawl down the ladder, so I knocked it out and then I found 2 more in the top. They started down the ladder and I knocked them out too. They were in my dads and there are plenty more in that barn.

My uncle said he treed a coon on a round bale or hay one night.

Hunting out side of KCMO
I treed a coon right next to a Big Pen with two Lions in it.
<The owner had a permit to have them>. I was calling my dogs All Sorts of Bad names on the way to that tree.

Had one tree

while standing on top of a beaver lodge. The coon at the end of a branch directly above it. It was early winter and the ice was thin, so I couldn't walk out to get the dog. I shook the branch and the coon fell out and the race was back on. That hound sure looked silly barking treed on top of that beaver lodge, but he had the meat!

Another time, the same hound, who was a bad tree climber, treed one on a deer stand. Took me awhile to find him because he had climbed and was on the platform. The coon had retreated farther up the tree.

When I am in the city (Brooklyn, NY), we sometimes find coons and/or alleycats inside closed dumpsters. I will be walking him on leash when he suddenly goes nuts on a dumpster. I will peak in the trap door and see eyes looking back--sometimes several pairs... Raccoons and alleycats will share the same dumpsters.

While reading Emily's post above,

it reminded me of another occasion that happened about 7-8 years ago. I live within a quarter of a mile of the northwestern corner of the largest State Park in the state of Illinois. One night, a friend & I were hunting along a fairly large creek that ran through the park, & the dog's struck & worked the track down the creek about a half a mile, then worked it up off of the creek toward the edge of the woods & treed. They were about 3/4 of a mile from us & you can't wade the creek just anyplace, so we decided to drive around. When we got around to the other side & listened for where they were treed at, I said they are treed close to the tree with the Bald Eagle nest in it. We took out walking & the closer we got the more nervous I got. When we got to the tree, the first thing I see was a big sign nailed to the side of the tree, with big red letters saying RESTRICTED AREA. Yes, it was the tree with the Eagle nest in it. We leashed the dog's up immediately & ran part of the way back to the truck, & got out of there.
