Hunting down here compared to MN: less coons, smaller coons. You wont see snow very often, so you wont get snowed in during the winter months. Summer nights can be hot as blazes, it is hard on the dogs.
the terrain in Eastern NC: swamp bottoms, beaver ponds, small branches. if you get down near the coast and can get on some of the coastal islands there can be some good hunting on them, but you got to watch for oyster beds because it will slice up paws. down here where i live which is bout 1 hr south of Richlands we have some areas we call bays or Carolina bays, which are low sometimes wet areas that are the absolute thickest vegetation you will ever see, very hard to pass through, sometimes impossible. Usually you have to crawl if you have to go to a dog.
overall you will find that the woods here will be thicker and probably not as pretty as up there. if you can find some 'big' woods, which havent been cut for timber for a long time it can be nice, but those are hard to find.
good luck on your move. the best thing about this area are the people. if yu can take the heat and humidity i think you will like it.
give me a hollar when you get moved and we will hunt.
