I am not a professional tree cutter at all but I have used a Stihl for many years to cut wood. I used a Husky Rancher a few years ago and it scared me so much because of how fast and easy it handles. Lets just say that I would recommend the Husky. It out performed the Stihl in my opinion. I went and purchased a Husky and the Stihl sits in the garage.

I know Echo is supposed to make a good grass trimmer. I checked their website and it looks like their chainsaws are more of the home owner type. Do they make a "heavy use" model? I'm still partial to Stihl, the 460 in particular. I'm seeing alot of Husky guys speaking up..and a few Jonsered too.

I have used several saws over the years. My advise is spend a little more up front and buy a husky or stihl, and you will be a lot better off in the long run. My personal choise is husky

I wont buy a husky simply because their parts and such are made by Electrolux, a company that was once local then moved to Mexico, taking alot of jobs and putting a big strain on the local economy.

Been about six years since I made my living with a saw so maybe they've changed but for fifteen years that I did, it was hard to beat a stihl for power and durability.

the new stihl's are junks as far as im concerned , but the older models are on our bucket trucks daily and are used hard. huskavarna are extremely good saw also!!!

huntaholic is right and parts for stih are alot more expensive i know guys around here that cut and limb 3000 cord of pulp wood a yearwith 372 and 575 huskys

I just got back from some of the big forest fires out west. Out there the fire crews, guys who really depend on a saw in harsh conditions, all carried the same kind of saw, STIHL. they mostly used 044 and 066 or the new versions 440 and 660.

My personal saw, is a Stihl Magnum 460. With a 20" bar and comfort chain, this thing melts through oak, beech, and maple. Seriously, I havent had it bog down yet. Low vibration, long on a tank of gas, and light for a saw it's size at 14 lbs. Granted, I've only been running it this summer but I am very impressed! For the past 10 years I've been using a Stihl 029 Super, great saw but it had a hard time cutting the big dense stuff. I used to just take my time and it did ok. I did clear my house lot with it so I have no complaints. I think Stihl and Husky are both great saws..but for me, after having such great luck with my old Stihl I had a hard time changing. Looks like guys are split right down the middle.
