How many dogs usually show up just as an average on a good year? I have only been able to attend the two times it was in Sedalia but there wasn't a shortage of guides I don't think. I may be mistaken but I don't think they were short. Our club took casts back to Fayette each night. I guided and judged some myself. The high scoring dog came from our club the first year and all the casts that we guided came in with pluse points I think. I also think that if it was talked about in a meeting with the local clubs around you would get plenty of help. I'm kind of speaking for our club without the other members opinion but I think that most would be willing to help. I was just thinking out loud that if it were in Columbia,Mo. that would be a good central location and on the two major highways running both north and south and east and west. The Boone county fair grounds also has an rv park right there on the grounds. That would be handy for some.

If I could find someone to keep my business running while I'm off chasing bluedogs all across the country it would be a lot easier for me to travel to Georgia. I would like to come, don't get me wrong but I don't think I can make it work. With just being married a little less than a year, running my own business, and talk of wanting to try for a baby that all could very well take a lot of a fellows time. I've been to Indiana three different times, Ohio, and am going to Arkansas for the semi finals. I wish I could take a week off and come play with you guys but all these bricks don't just jump on the wall and people can't understand why you aren't there to do their house already and don't care about the ten people that called before them. If I get things caught up you may see me there.

Chris, we know what you mean and there are many folks in the same boat as you are, when time is limited you choose the hunts you can attend and others will just have to wait !!

I don't think it will be coming back to MO any time soon as it was there on the rotation for 2001-2002.

It will be in the South for 2003-2004, and unless something comes up from the BBCHA Board of Directors meeting we have a location in the North for 2005-2006.

Now after this it will be the Presidents of both organizations and the committee they choose to set the 2007-2008 location but by the rotation it would seem fair for it to travel East like PA, NY, MD but that will be their project not mine, maybe the East will not have any interest so you could see it coming back to the West for an early rotation.

One thing is if the hunt ends up going to the location for 2005-2006 that has been selected by BBOA and waiting for confirmation from BBCHA plan on attending, lots and lots of coon, big corn fields, little patches of woods and just super nice coon hunting, the NorthWestern Illinois CHA has a great club and with the help of the Suger River CHA out of Argyle Wisc you will have the hunt of your life, and this club already has a 2 night event in the first weekend of Oct so no troubles with getting a date, and this area of ILL, IA, WI, MN, MI, IN, MO, OH have lots of Blue dog men and the off breed guys will be there in force as a hunt of this size is not found up in this area so they will be there.

I feel your pain. I was suppose to be in LaGrange this year and last year and I was swamped and canceled. Those pipes don't get hooked up by themselves under the house either. It seems that every year my help keeps getting more slack as well. I would probably be money ahead if I just did it by myself and on days I need help hire somebody. I don't know about doing things on your own. I usually do everything on my own from getting the bricks to laying the things and everything else. I have had a laborer the last week and I think I have to work harder somtimes because of the help. It is nice to have help on somethings though. I will try to make the northern Ill. hunt if at all possible. What are the projected dates for that? There is a lot of god hunting in that area and the people seem to be good down to earth people that know how to talk to people and treat them the way they should be treated. I was never tring to ruffal any feathers but Columbia would be a good central location with easy access in the future. It may not work out at all. I was just thinking out loud. TCB, you are so right as I remember some of my friends in NC and even up here in ILL not being able to take off during summer months as this is the time they make their WINTER money doing construction and so forth. They do like the spring/fall months as it does slow down and they can slip away, but business in business and that comes first.

I've been lucky and have a very good crew, and can slip away when need be, hours are great...pay isn't LOL

Faithfull Blue.......soryy old chap we already have a hunt in May and that is that and that is not what the agreement says, spring /fall for this event so both hunter/dog can can enjoy

I think of any location east of the Miss. River being back east. So, Missouri wouldn't be way out west.

I attended the Fall Round-up when it was held in Pine Bluff Ark. and later in Hope, always had a great time. I attended the Nat. hunt held in central Iowa had a good hunt.

I guess my idea of a good location is one that hunters can go out and tree a coon or two and not be hunting next to a major road or in a building complex. Pulling around back of Wal-Mart and casting the dogs is not coon hunting.

Clinton, Mo., makes for a good location for a fall hunt. The hunt needs to be held in locations where 100+ dogs will hunt both nights.

I don't take the wife much over 500 miles from home and don't plan on going on to many hunts more than that distance. I just have too much fun pleasure hunting and treeing from 2 to 10 coon in my back door to drive 10 or 15 hours, put my hound in more danger and loosing lots of sleep.

Missouri is the ideal location for this hunt. The clubs around us (central Mo.) can hold a 100+ dog hunt easily. We have an abundance of coon, usually good hunting conditions, and the terrain isn't all that bad to hunt. There are always going to be hunts to far away for people to attend, but here in Missouri we really don't any major hunts in state so we usually have to travel some distance if we wish to attend one. We all wish we could make the all the big hunts like Winter Classic, Battle of the Breeds or A-Oaks but it does take some extra cash and time off work to make these hunts. Since Mo. is centrally located this would give more people an oppportunity to attend this hunt,but I do understand that the last time it was held at Sedalia, Mo the attendance wasn't as high as the previous year so it was a good idea to move it around to try to boost attendance. Enough of me ramblin on. Good Luck where ever you decide to place the hunt, I'm sure the hunt will be a good one.

Faithful Blue, but with the hunt in Feb like it was this year and next year how would that be considered crowding the Fall Round-Up??????????

Now, when it was in MO, it was a full MONTH after the Fall Round-Up so again, how would that be considered crowding that hunt???

Now, if the hunt is held in NY or Northern Illinois as has been suggested how do you think that would in any way effect the Fall Round-Up held down in MS,TX or wherever it is held. I know of No One who attend the Round-Up from up this way just due to the travel and milage, simple fact that goes with all hunts, if its to far away many don't come.

So I see in no form of it hurting the Fall Round-Up in any means what so ever. I may be wrong, but I think the # of folks it could possibly affect would be 1% if even less than that. The hunt was not started to hurt any one organization but to allow both organizations to Co-Host an event and the agreement was for this hunt to rotate (that means to different parts of the USA) in premire hunting times (it says Fall/Spring) that will best do for the location, be it East, West, South, North.

So what month's do you think it would be good in?????? I would never recommend the Northern area for Feb/Mar as we can get a foot of snow during those months, and in the South Nov/Dec is Deer hunting season and Thousands..........of acres are lost to Deer hunting leases, that is why we went with Feb, plus it was nice weather!!!!!

Now, that being said I would never suggest putting the reunion on in Oct out West......which is the time frame for the Round-Up, and this event is normaly held in the west so common sense would dictate that, so what would your suggestion be and the location?????????

TCB, no harm done and I wasn't up set or anything. It doesn't matter to me were the hunt is. If it is supposed to rotate around because that is how it was designed then that is what should happen. It would be nice if there could be a central location and leave it there if it were a good spot. I mean if you could take an average of the numbers of participents and place it in the middle but for the minority of hunters they would then be getting the short end of the deal each time. I guess the rotation is the only fair way to go and if possible try to attend if we can. Talk to you later. Chris

Faithful Blue, Jan, Feb, Mar are good months, April is out because of the other major breed hunts (only in the midwest) for trying to get a date. As far as putting on the hunts, if the members of the committee do their jobs it's realy not that hard, the major problem will always be THE DATE getting a club who has a date that we can use without going to UKC and having to call 3 or 4 clubs asking them to switch for a different date.

When you have a club with a 2 nite date and they are willing to put the hunt on, as long as its not on the same weekend of the Round-Up then by all means I would have to vote to use it. I've worked out the date problems for the last 3 years getting clubs to rotate, calling UKC, the Club officers, then the club hosting the hunt, not a big deal, just some time on the phone, but the hard part is catching up with everyone !! LOL

I feel as long as we are in the South the Feb date will be a great date, you may end up with a freak ice storm, but hey things happen, I think Feb might be ok also out West, but I don't live out there so don't know what the weather is like. I do know the CF hunt in TX in Feb has good weather and is just right for coon hunting.

I don't think I'd go any further than early Nov for the North or Upper East (NY,PA) due to possible snow, and that would kill a hunt. March is also tricky as last year in early March we had 18 degree weather for our local UKC club hunt, we treed coons but I bet not many would travel for it.

The main thing we will always have to work around will be finding a date, and as long as we rotate this will be the #1 pain in the A-- as you called it, but with a good committee it should prove to provide Bluetick folks from all over the USA the opportunity to attend the Reunion once in their lifetime.

It would be nice to be able to make it every year no matter where it may be but that would be tough. Everyone should get to go atleast once and have the hunt close to them so they don't have to spend a lot of time and money. I really enjoyed myself when it was in Sedalia, Mo. those two years. Won my cast Friday night last year and didn't get to go Sat. but had lots of fun and a good hunt. All of the work done to put on a hunt like that and make it go with no noticable hang ups can never be appreciated enough by the ones who just get to come and hunt or even guide a cast and judge. All of us really thank you guys and gals for all your hard work reather it is in Mo. or Georgia. We take or hats off to you and I look forward to getting to attend again and in the near future I hope. Thanks again.

Mark, do you know when battle of the breeds is going to be by chance? I think it is usually held the first weekend in December but I can't remember. I think a couple of us are going to go try and see how Ok. is for hunting.

Hey Chris.....................if you want to see what Okla is like check out the "Great Western Shoot-Out" in Coalgate, Okla November 7th & 8th of this year !!!!!! It is a battle between Bluetick & English and this is a great location and should be a great hunt. The ad will be in the magazines in the Oct issue so be on the look-out for it !!!!

This is going to be an annual event for the Bluetick folks out West, and we hope to see many of you out there!!!!!!!!

Mark, I'll keep that in mind. The guy that was going to ride with me hunts English dogs, and a fairly good one at that. We went last night and made two drops and treed two coon. Not bad for an old wore out blue and a young english. Where is Colgate,Ok.? I mean where at in the state. I've never been to the battle of the breeds but thought I would like to attend. Do you think the other one you mentioned will be a better hunt. Oh, I also have to keep in mind our better halves will be following us out there so they can have a little miny vacation. Is there much for them to do or would Ada have a little more to offer as far as girl stuff? I would like for them to have fun if we can talk them into going because if they think they are involved then it may make for an easier time to travel to more big hunts. Talk to you later. Chris

Chris, Jim is right about not much to do, just like in Ada, nothing there also but to hunt. I'll ask Janet Kirkes if there is anything to do or close by for the wives, with this being a BBOA and Western English Co-Hosted event, I hope it draws a very good crowd. Wew ould like to build it to a premier event. I'm told by some local Bluetick folks we should get a very good draw, and the hunting is good around Coalgate and Antlers, some cast will even be going back to Ada.

I'll keep you informed as to what I find out for the better halfs to do while there, this would be a good hunt for you and your English friend to hit, since its Blueticks Against English !!

Thanks for the info. I'll run the dates by him and see what he says about going to the coalgate hunt instead. I would also like any info fon stuff for the better halfes to do. Even if they had to drive a little ways that wouldn't be bad. Maybe a shopping mall or something of that sort. I think they were willing to go to Ada but I'll have to do some checking on the scheduals and see what is happening. I heard that the pecan groves are the place to be for lots of quick coon. I'll push for this hunt as it is a BBOA hunt and try to make it there. Have you came up with anythng on your stud dog hunt. How will you be picking the dogs or what have you? I guess I need to put my dog in the books and see what kind of response I get. The only people that have bred to him are people that are close to home. I did get a couple pups scaterd out of him with the last litter I had. One went to Texas and one went to Louissiana. I need to call those people and see how they are getting along. Talk to you later.
