Anytime you write on any subject you are putting yourself in the firing line!!! I think there have been some great writers on some real tough issues in the past, this includes John and Vicki! Does anyone know how time consuming and tough it can be to write something trying to relate and entertain a huge gallery of individuals? Its easy to talk to people but try putting it on paper once and it turns into a whole new ballgame! I wish there were people who would submit more articles and stories too all the magazines, but as anyone who has a little education can and will see that it is not that easy or they would be doing it!!! Thanks to Vicki, John, Guy Ormiston and many others that have put forth the effort!!! Keep up the good work!! I wish I could write better and help you all out on some of things I have learned hunting with men like Bert Oney, John Walkup, my Grandfather and alot more unsung hereos in my life!!

I can say this because i know John Wick .

When John writes his articles , most of it is based on either experience or Comon Sence , he has done as much as anyone for the Walker breed , and Coon Hunting .

I would say from personal knowledge , he is a Hall Of Fame Breeder, Hunter , and Friend that is devoted to this sport !

For the life of me i cant understand why they dont want his articles in there , if the Cooner wants ME to resubscribe to their magazine he will be back to doing what he does a very good job of and thats writing his article . this isnt only my opinion but of many many more hunters . please dont be offended by this post , no offence intended !

Both Vicki Lamb & John Wick do some pretty nice work. If you ever try to write an article yourself, you might appreciate their work even more.

Vickie, I have a complaint about your articles. lol Apparently they are taking up too much of your time. I stumbled around the Grand American for a whoe day and didn't see your smiling face and agan today I looked over the sites at the Winter Classic and no Vickie. Your either doing a good job of hiding or your way to busy. lol

Mr. Wick has always been one of my favorites. I have read everything that I knew he has written about coonhunting and I guess we kind of aged together. I had the good fortune of having my dog draw out against him and his cur dog year before last at PKC walker days. I found him to be pleasant to be around that entire weekend.

Just tell me where to send my material,LOL!

i can say this but

this is just me. i didnt re subscribe to the cooner because his article isnt in there. i dont want to read about a bunch of bs about whos who in coon hunting i want to read trials and tribulations about coon hunting. heck anyone can turn out a dog and it look like a total a$$ i want to know methods of fixing problems like that not that joe shomo just won 10,000 on his dog and how he did it but this is my opinion

Thought I'd chime in for what it is worth. I have just got John and Vickie's books, although I have not finished them, I think they are both well done. Also really enjoy Vickie's work when she is doin' an article about a past (or present) breeder, or a paticlular dog. Like in last year's CB English addition her articles about Smith's Hardtime Rocky and River Hill's Rueben.

I have to agree with you Redrockin Reds. I want to read more articles about fix'en problems. The first thing I always did when I got an AM Cooner mag was read Walking w/ Wick, then I go to Hound Time w/ Vickie. The problem I see in some mags is a writer will address problems, training tips, starting pups or something and they just lightly scratch the surface tell enough to get you interested but not really give you any meat & potatos. 3/4 of the article will talk about everything and not have anything to do with the subject matter, then the last 1/4 of the article will give you a little advise and a couple of tips. I also agree w/the others that want more "This happened to me stories" and not just the Winners of a World Hunt stories. Don't quit the WH winners stories. More 40 hour a week little guy articles. I am going to miss the Wick articles and still enjoy Vickie's article and if I quit AM Cooner it wont be because of them. The only thing I read in last months AC was the world winner article the classifieds and Hound Time.

I did'nt read every post but....John Wick has never been anymore than nice to me. He has politly answered every question I ever asked. I miss his articles. I read this months Cooner and in my opinion without Vicky Lamb, there is NO Cooner. She wrote about every article in there. Good job Vicky and I like your articles, but I do miss John's.

I liked Wicks stuff. One thing about Vicky Lamb is that she has raised, train, hunted AND HANDLED hounds and won at the toughest levels. She regularly handles hounds in the PKC Pro hunts and has been successful. So she doesn't just
"talk tha talk".

I thought the AMERICAN COONER was Timothy Ball's ad selling book or at least comments from Larry Polston. (the guy from Ill.)

A few months ago I received an e-mail from Wick Outdoor Works telling me that John wasn't going to write anymore. I was informed on the same day (different source) that John was working non-stop on his new book (which I had seen firsthand in his office) and maybe I made a wrong assumption that John would let me know when he got rid of the "writer's burnout" we all get.

This should be obvoius to everyone, but John is always welcome to be a contributor to the Cooner. I miss his articles as much as anyone. I will be contacting him again shortly and will have a long list of potential articles for him to write. I haven't put any pressure on John to write as I at least have some idea as to the amount of work he put into the recent book. Those that know John know that he is a perfectionist and that book didn't get published until he was completely satisfied.

For those of you who made less than complimentary comments about John, I guess that's what comes with the territory of expressing one's opinion. John is not bashful about expressing himself and that is one of the best things about him and his writing. But I've found its a lot easier for some to criticize someone's opinion that to support their own. At least he tells it as he sees it rather than just tear other people down.

In summary, I hope that you and I will see more of John's writing in the Cooner shortly. If not, its not because of my desire to exclude his writing from the publication. Its because of his time schedule and his priorities--which I'm sure he is more than able to keep busy.

I’ll bet that when and if the whole truth comes out, we’ll find that once again there are at least two sides to every story.

Interviews are rarely interesting to read in my opinion. It seems like everyone is the same. What ever happened to stories (fiction)? I thought everyone new that hunters enjoy stories. If you don't know it all you have to do is hang out with a few hunters for a while before you figure out that we spend most of our time telling stories that in most cases are at least 50% fiction (not interviewing each other).

You just wait, when they interview the winner of the SETWDS you will read alot of fiction you can handle, lol
