I don't have a problem with people trapping but when the hides were bringing $5 or less these same guys that we know were not trapping that many coon. I gurantee there were more coon around our spots then there is now. We hunt our spots alot because we just don't have that many spots but I would hate to think I had to guide a cast in the near future. I would bet that the cast members would not have a very high opinion of my guiding. The bad thing is a guy I have been working for Farms 5500 acres and the trappers were headed that way this weekend. I just got permission to hunt it and have not had a chance to go there yet. I sure hope they don't go in that area. The thing is those guys are not the only ones trapping in our spots. I live kind of in the middle of no where and have lots of coon here at the house but it is rough hunting. The guy that owns the ground south of us has a guy live traping around his feed bunks and he has caught 50 and said he didn't put a dent in them. I find that hard to believe he didn't dent them. At least he only kills the big coon and lets the small ones go. I hope he keeps leting the small ones live so I will have some coon to chase.

I personally don't have a problem with trapping, when I was in school I trapped quite a bit it was a good little income. But now that I'm running dogs I just dread the idea of pulling my best hound out of a 330 that isn't under water, or a coyote snare, or payhing the vet bill for where a #2 1/2 broke his foot.

And as far as the sport of trapping, if you havn't been into it, then don't pass judgement. Becoming a successful trapper isn't easy at all. It took months and months for me to get the hang of it, and trappers easily sink more time in trapping than we spend raising and training dogs.
