Bottom line is......
Folks can't admit to being beat by track speed so they breed/train for them " SOLO " dogs.
I'd sure like to see the nite hunts require the dogs to run the same track like the beaglers do.

WHY JUST HALF, WHY NOT TRY TO OWN A DOG THAT CAN DOMINATE THE CAST WHILE STAYING WITH THEM? THE WAY THAT I SEE IT IS THAT PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO HUNT DOGS WITH THE STILE THAT CURS HAVE BEEN KNOWN FOR EXCEPT HUNTING HARDER.

All things being equal, I agree.

Problem is, that all things arent equal. The odds of drawing out with 4 competent broke coondogs is slim to zero.

In the nite hunt game, half the battle is just staying away from the trouble the other 3 retards you turned loose with are finding.

IMHO.

Dog of a different color

I 've hunted all colors of hounds . I've been blessed to have some real good dogs of every color. But, to be honest I've never had a Walker dog that I could say was a real coon hound. Now I know that there are and have been some good Walkers but none have ever crossed my path.

I grew up seeing blueticks turn out the best. Walkers were to tree happy. The old boy I hunted as a kid with was a bluetick fan because of it. Thirty years later I talked to him. He said the best dogs he ever saw go were walkers. I couldn't believe it. I'm still waiting to see a good straight walker impress me.
