Man! We moved out of Michigan just in time. Was told today by some friends there about the snow on the ground already. It's a pleasant here around 50 degrees.

You'd be surprised how many Michiganders are down here. Me thinks they aren't crazy about the winters up there either. I don't mind the snow so much, but E hates it! LOL

I hear ya Gordon. I'd like to be over there running a cat with ya.

Trying not to get too fired up about winter yet. They are calling for a pretty much snowless and iceless winter here from what I've heard. Looks like we'll be running beagles and doing some predator calling moreso than sitting in the ice shack.

Snow=Idoits....

My teacher for example. She was driving along one of the local snow covered roads here in Chseaning and she flipped her boyfriend's truck, right before he needed to go to Wyoming. So, he took her truck and she is stuck driving a lillte blazer.

someone at work was telling me that on the weather channel they said that we were to have a pretty mild winter here. the last really bad winter we had with tons of snow was in 1993-1994. but it was nothing like the winter of 77-78. roads here were closed for over a week. they had to bring in special equipment just to open the main highways. my husband drove truck for the us mail then and got stuck in erie for three days before the roads were open so i could go get him. we had just bought a new deisel 76 scout that fall. talk about premonition. lol

LOL it is like watching a monkey with a cocconut! Here is a hint for all you southerners. Giving it more gas is not the answer!

They will close school here for 6-8 inches of snow for a week, back home 18 inches might do the trick!

lol, you are so right, I remember the first ice storm I encountered here in OK. I left for work only to discover that traffic was backed up for a mile, almost stopped. When I finally got closer I discovered the problem was that the people in front of me couldn't make it up a hill that wasn't any big deal for me, but folks here couldn't make it up. They would get halfway up and lose traction, then they would floor it and go sideways and slide down the hill. I turned off and went 5 miles out of my way, slowly, but I still got there faster than if I would have stayed where I was. It happens every time it snows, which fortunately is only about twice a year. Also, the best invention for safe driving on the snow is anti-lock brakes, not 4wd. My Suburban has both, and I feel pretty safe driving in that, of course it helps that I grew up in Northern MI and actually know how to drive on the stuff. I also like to do a quick "road check" by going slow in a safe place, and slamming on the brakes to see how slick it really is. A few donuts are always fun too

Newhunter...

CAN you do Donuts in the Suburban? I've never tried with mine (I can't do them it Physically hurts )... but Bob Loves winter in his Jeep doing them in SAFE places.... I DID go 4 wheeling One time in the Suburban... in a fantastic sand pit we used to ride the dirtbikes in...THAT was a BLAST! I never thought a Suburban would DO a donut... Just curious... I will NOT let Bob do it... we need it for plowing and it is MY everyday vehicle.....

I never had had enough room to try them in the suburban, it is a boat, but I am sure you can. In 2wd with the 350 it can turn the wheels just fine. When I was in college, my friend and I did one in a school bus, that was a hoot. I usually do my playing with my hunting truck if I do any, The 'burb is my wife's vehicle, so I would hate to put a dent in it. lol
