theres some good ones. but alot of them all they do is tree and are not very accurate. alot of them are too hot nosed which yah is what wins them the nite hunts because in those hunts you dont want a "coondog'' a dog that will circle and make sure the coon didnt go on before he settles in treein which is what i want them to do. in the hunts you want a dog that will strike a hot track and get treed quick whether hes got the coon or not which yah them walkers are bred for that which is why they win. now you take an off colored dog you dont see that as often as you do in walkers. for me they are too tree minded and pull up on a tree too quick without checkin first. but i guess to win them hunts you dont want a sure enough coon dog, you want a hot nosed dog that will grab the first tree he smells coon on. some of you say walker is just a better dog and probably are in comp. hunting but thats bout it. if you like to hunt and tree coon consistently then alot of them walkers isnt the way you want to go. and theres alot of them walkers that are probably ok dogs if they would get hunted by themselves some. but a friend of mine was at the akc world and talked to the owner of a big time walker and the owner even admitted that in them hunts and his dog is competing against other dogs that he will slick tree. the thing is is you have comp. dogs and then you have " coondogs" in my opinion and theres a big difference.

a plott won the pkc world a few years ago. you walker boys do the math. the odds are with a walker dog winning. look how many they are. now do the percentages.

That is all I hear people talk about. That is the only reason walkers win in the hunts is because there is so many of them well figure this if the walkers didnt blow away the competition than there would be more off colored dogs winning in the hunts. Also well figure this tooooo walkers have to beat other walkers to win. I love to hunt in the hunts with either of my walker dogs but I like to take them out around my house even more just to see how many coons they can tree in 1 night.

I love coonhunting. I hunt walkers and I just bought my first bluetick pup. I don't really think that it matters what color hair the dog has because I'm pretty sure the coon don't care! As far as percentages go....if a walker beats out 10 other walkers and 2 blueticks...guess what...a walker still beat 12 OTHER dogs. If a black and tan beat a cast of walkers, its nothing amazing. Just a coonhound beating 3 other hounds. Percentages are useless in my opinion.

Well eneough is eneough.

I tried for years to avoid the walker breed, but after much trial, and very limited sucess, I switched to walkers.
And Ya know, I was so stupid to avoid them in the first place.
They seem to be twice as smart, easier to train, faster, Funny thing about them being mostly white, They Coon hunt, like the African Americans play Basket Ball. LOL

like my name says i originally hunted english and i am not coler blind i will hunt a good one of any coler but all i have now is walkers 1 2yr old grnite /pkc champ 1 2yr old pkc champion with a ticket for the pkc nationals i like them very well but to each his own feed what you like and dont make excuses when you lose live with it or get a better dog

My first dog was an english because that is what I was raised around. But after hunting with this little walker female that a guy was selling for 250 I bought her and she is one of the smartest dogs I have ever hunted with as far as handeling and treeing coons in the blink of an eye so that is why I hunt walkers

SO FOR ALL YOU PEOPLE THAT BASH THE WALKER BREED SAYING THAT THEY SLICK TREE MORE THAN ANY OTHER BREED YOUR JUST RETARTED BECAUSE THE COON HAS TO BE SEEN TO BE SCORED.

Trevor Hack , i aint never been "blown away" by a walkerdog in my life. If you think you got what it takes to blow my black dogs away just bring em to tennessee and well see. they cant just go pick a tree here like they can in Ohio, they have to go find a coon. And yes, I have hunted in Ohio alot

You can say or think what you want, but there are good-uns and bad-uns in all breeds. I congrat. the Walkers that won, and their handlers. There were also more Walkers that lost than any other breed. Because a dog is a Walker doesn't make it good, and because a dog is Blue doesn't make it bad..........and you can take it to the bank.

I don"t post on here I mostly just read. I hunt English and Walker, but this stuff about Walkers having all the advantage because they have numbers has some merit but not to the extent you want to give it. If the colored breeds had the best night hunt dogs they would win. The hunts are set up for Walkers or the Walker people have done a better job of breeding a competition hound. I don't see any of the present breeds ever competiting with the Walker hound on a equal basis. When this cross bred program get off the ground they will compete. Most of the dogs of other breeds that are competing now are cross with Walker.

uhh yes they can be scored even if there aint no coon seen. circle points. any little hole can be considered a den to some. so dont go believin that every dog that is winnin in the hunts is doin it fairly. theres alot of shysters out there. but im not color blind and have hunted with every breed there is, curs, blue, redbones, walkers,english,black and tan,plott and out of all those dogs walkers will slick tree alot more and thats a fact, its a fact that they have too much tree bred into em for the most part and they are too quick to grab a tree which is why they win in the hunts. in comp. hunting you dont want a dog that goes and checks to see if the track went on before falling treed. you want a dog to strike a hot track and get it treed quick as possible and alot of times they slick tree. i dont care what any of you say cuz ive seen it too many times to think otherwise. now im not downing walkers because ive also hunted with some that are **** good dogs.walkers in general are hotter nosed and a little tree happy, not all but alot. whereas you dont see that in other breeds like you do in walkers.thats why in them big hunts alot of times you see the scores and sometimes they are only maybe +75 or somethin thats because coon werent movin and it took a coondog to get on a coon. even some of the bigger name dogs cant tree coon when coon arent movin well because they are too hot nosed which is fine for comp. hunting but not if you wanna tree coon consistently.

no they were not winning before they were the majority. walkers back in the day alot of them you couldnt keep them off trash. walkers are the majority nowdays because they are hot nosed and get treed quick but arent very consistent. not all of them are this way but alot of them. now for comp. hunting yah id say walkers have it but as far as being "coondogs" well id say walkers got a ways to go.

As Elvis said the only reason there are so many walkers is because they have always blown away the competition even when they were not the most popular breed RIGHT

In my life time I highly doubt the walkers will get any worse in fact I think walker pups are treeing there own coon at an earlier age than they did 10 years ago. The walker breed will continue to dominate the competition for years to come

I love to hunt Blues because when he wins, it mine something. and when a walker dog wins a world hunt, you have just another walker winning a world hunt, but if you happen win it with a ole blue. just set back and set your price. and I like to watch the way walker boys act when ole blue beats them.

2 circle trees in 2 hours you are scratched for the night. (get read of the slick tree idots that are being bred today)

Dog is scratched for life on first fight and handler is scratched for life on handling their second dog that is scratched for fighting. (get read of the rough B S that's being bred into these dogs today)

And after dog/dogs declared treed, all other tracks and trees other that the first tree will have lines drawn though them. (get back to breeding hounds that pack and back the way they are suppose to.)

It maybe that the "others" just haven't screwed up their breed yet?
