Had a good hunt tonight with Jon and Roxy.

We had a bit of a tune up hunt for this Saturday and it went well. After some correction on an idea they both recovered well and ended up treed about 630yards away from where we cut them loose.

We got to see the meat up the tree and both dogs held the pressure for quite a while as we had to walk back to the truck and then drive way around to get into them.

All in all a good night. Now we should be ready for Saturday.

Good luck to:

- Jon Christmas and Roxy

- Tim Hargrove and Scar

I'll see you gentlemen at Springfield, TN.

Yes we had a good hunt last night and really got to see some drive in a couple reddogs.

Good luck to you and Jack on Saturday night.
I'm gonna try to make it out but it just depends on what time I can sneak outta work.

It's always a pleasure to have you and Jack over a hunt or just a visit.

Keep Up The Good Work, I can see a IMPROVEMENT each time I hunt with Jack.

well

I had a horrible night, first turn loose not a single dog opened, second drop, same, third drop, 1.3 miles and the ol red dog has the meat by hisself. squal with the good ol' BANSHEE squaller and coon comes down the vine hits the ground and off we go again. Don't let me forget to mention that I buried "MY TRUCK"(yes my big GMC) in the field, before I could get to him. Luckily those lockers worked! Oh and we only got to see the ol ricky one time as he stretched out on the vine coming down.
Weather has been cooling off good but the coons have been moving late. We'll see what happens the next few nights. Kill season in on its way. Good luck to yall and happy hunting

Dang Bailey! That was a rough one!

Well Me and Jack had a decent showing.

First drop Jack was 4th and 4th on a Opossum.....I was none too happy.

After that Jack was all business.

We ended up with +100. and +150 won it.

But this time it wasn't my fault we lost...I handled him well tonight, that Opossum cost us a 2nd place win.

Good thing there is always next weekend.

Well me and Jon cut loose tonight with Jack and Jim.

It was blowing pretty good when we cut them loose.

They went down in the creek and stuck right away. Jack and Jim got treed quick. It was a big ole mess of a tree that went into another big ole den tree. They treed good.

opening night

Jenny, highway, Dave and i. made a quick tree in the chickasaw forest. jenny had the meat and we were able to get it out to them. that was the first coon of the night. Johnathan Baily and a new red dog man Brian. had taken their three dogs to another part of chickasaw. rex, navigator, and ryder. made a hole on the first drop. we all met back at the house. made a couple more drops. one on the back of my place and they all got treed. jo-ann, gator, and rex. ryder was all about something else on this drop. big hickory and could'nt see the top. last drop rex started a track in the corn field near the house, and treed it well. ryder and gator were busy trying to do their own thing and missed out. got a nice boar coon down to rex. ended around 2am. had a great time. come see us jon and kent. LWS.

I'm a bit late on the update, but here is what happened this week.

On Tuesday night I took Jack out with a fella that is just getting into it.

We cut Jack loose and he took off into the dark. He struck in on a track and then got quiet for a bit. The 8mins didn't catch him, but I kinda wish it had. lol

Jack pulled up under something with climbing gear that has a distinct lack of fur on his tail........so me and Jack and a rather lengthy and far more intent discussion on this than ever before.

After that I drove around and we cut loose again and by this time the wind was flat laying it down. Jack wen hunting and I just so happen to get lucky and catch him coming across towards the creek. I called him in and we called it a night. The thunder was crackin and it was getting rough.

All in all it was was still better than my day at work. =P

LOL. Me, rex, and gator had a great night last night. Rex and the pup have been hanging together until he gets things down. They rolled in about 750 yards and rex located and layed down the chopping rythym, then ol gator chimed in with his. Tied them back and found ol rocky. I shot twice, hit once (a good one apparently cause he started making his way down) and he stopped about halfway..........then gun jammed. Tried to get it fixed and i guess ol rocky bailed cause we never found him. Big coon too!

Second drop rex hit a nice blowover that was supported by a single oak and had the meat, gator didnt talk much but as soon as I hit the squaller he never shut up until rocky hit the ground. (His mouth was full of fur) LOL.

This weekend was a rough one....thank goodness the company was good. LOL

Friday was a hard night on the young dogs, only one tree and it was circled up. It wasn't for a lack of going, Jenny and Jack got in there and hunted the area really well.

Saturday....well....I think it can be summed up with the fact that not a single cast (out of 5) came in with plus points....all circle and or minus.

Oh well, were on our way and having a good time getting there.

Two trees and two tangled freaking messes tonight. I saw eyes one time in the first tree and then the old coon moved before I could get my rile up.....oh well.

Jack did a great job. Hunted out well and did a nice job treeing as well.

Happy (early) Birthday to me!

The issue of using a single shot rifle with leaves on is no more. I just purchased a Ruger 10/22 with a folding stock and new scope.....it's on.

Now if this rain would magically disappear for the night. LOL

Get a good scope and they are amazingly accurate. All you need is one eyeball. It doesn't matter how thick the leaves/vines are. You can put a round right in there and out they come!

Here she is. 26inches total length folded and you can make it near what ever size you need when open with that 6 position stock.

Congratulations to Larry Stringer and CH 'PR' Stringer's Hillbilly Jenny on their 2nd place win last night.

That makes two 2nd places with her . All she needs now is a first to get titled out.

Kent is

does that has a laser also? Thats a cool looking coon killer. Maybe you should think about designing guns by the way you put that together.

I purchased the Ruger 10/22 and replaced the stock with the API Strikeforce stock. It comes with enough rails to make it completely crazy on the front end. I only put one on so that I can mount a cheap light so I don't have to use my head lamp when shooting.

The scope is a Bushnell scope mounted by Nikon "P-series" rings. That scope was on sale and has a lighted BDC reticle which is way too "cool guy" for coonhunting......but for the price it was I figured why not.

I also grabbed up a 25 round Butler Creek magazine so I at any given time I can have 35 rounds loaded and ready for action.

As for the laser, you could mount one on it you want. I don't have one on it.

I used it this weekend and need to upload the pictures and what not from the last couple of nights of action and tell the tale on here.

Bottom line for the rifle is that it was very consistent and very accurate after being bashed up pretty decent through a thicket. I was very satisfied with my new piece of gear.
