If beer slows him down --keep him away from the higher octane.

Cougar

Ran into one of those age 14, south of grandads, (Now Dads) house. It was in the winter with a snow on and he was tucked out of the wind at the bottom of a hill-side. I heard what I thought was a bedded dear wake up and i slipped around the corner of hillside and 40 feet away he was there and turned and snarled at me then he ran into a thicket to the east. Now I had a .22 and pulled up on him but that snarl took that idea right out of my head. Id had a farm dog with me and a old 1/4 greyhound and hound mix and I honestly thought they would run and tree anything, They has been hunting to the west, I called them and sicked them on the trail, they got a wiff and both of them ran straight north for the house. I was not happy about that so I tracked the cat over to the creek and was on the sand bank when I heard him growl just above me on the high bank out of sight, now it was my turn to hi-tail it to the house!!

True Story Jeff

Good morning fellas. Looks like a hot week coming up. Had a little six pointer in the pasture this morning with five does. He might be taking the place of the big one they killed 2 years ago. Have to go out and put the deck back underneath that mower and hook everything back up. Dreading this. You all have a wonderful day and stay safe.

Good Morning,

Nice heard of deer Mike. That salve the Tony and Rex makes, does work wonders I have seen Tony use it on some nasty stuff and it heals right away. We have a hunt friday night at Charleston club, whoever wants to come. Hopefully it will cool down. Lots of those old time remedies work wonders if you can get the ingreidents. Amish country, Dick's Pharmacy is the last place i know of. Linda keeps me informed. Nice Turtle Chris do you do anything with shells? Glad to see lots of people doing food plots helps out all the animals.

Latter Jeff

Turtle Pouches

I make them with deer leather using turtle shell. They look pretty neat, I also do pony bead work ect. Use artificial sinew to sow it all up. I showed a boy how to do it and he recd 3rd place in the state in 4-H. My family were very proud of him.

Thank you Mike

I always try to help the youth and having coached from 18 to 45 as unpaid coach in flag fotball, jr football and youth wrestling and high school wrestling. My wife mentor girl scout and Brownies, so we were into that before we ever had kids of our own. We have been very lucky to work with lots of great people, families and kids. Now I am working with getting the helping build the club back up and getting kids involved more with hunting of all types. I hopefully will get a couple more articles published this year or next, this money goes to club stuff, needy youth and other clubs. I keep none of it. Like me or not you will always know where and what I stand for.

Thanks Mike, Jeff

Real sinew

Never collected it, if you would show me where you get it from that would be even neater. I thought it was from backstrap just not sure. It is miserable hot today, people can go down real fast in this heat. My diabetes in this heat will cause my blood sugar to drop fast and get me in trouble.

A person has to be careful . Thanks Rex. I would appreciate that.

Jeff

Jeff it is off the back strap..the part you would peel off and throw away ..it comes off the tender loin..in one whole piece..you scrape any meat that might be left on it .then tack it out on a flat board and the dry it...heres a wall hanger my buddy in Texas made me out of some sinew I sent him this spring ..the leather is a ground hog I sent him and a Texas willow the leather is tied to the frame with the sinew...

Jeff, I have taught youth group and Jr. church for many years and have seen so many kids come and go. Their parents pay no attention to them and they are looking for some love. I have taught lessons on peer pressure and the consequences of giving in and doing things they shouldn't. I gave an example of shoplifting and asked if they knew what happened if you got caught. Then the stories started about brothers or sisters who had went to jail for various reasons. These were small kids and knew more about the police than I did. It's really kind of sad, but parents didn't care. Keep helping kids in whatever way you can you may not be able to keep them all out of trouble but if you save just one it's worth it. Mike, if you would fence your yard and buy some goats you wouldn't need that lawnmower. I don't know if your wife would appreciate the milk duds in her yard though. Stay cool all. TD isn't home yet but I'm sure he will be on here when he gets here.

Linda

You best be careful-- you'll get that bionic stomach you were talkin' bout. Fellows it was warm down at Belleville this afternoon but I made it.

Bigtimber my wife raises Aussie's. I don't think they would make a good companion around Aussie's. Besides that I have built fences I know for 45 years and I don't think I want to build anymore. Mowing is easier.

Mike everything goes good with goat. You fellers have a safe and pleasant day. I get to haul bridge beams today only 38 ft. an easy day, on a hot too be. Anybody heard from Gut lately? He's been mighty silent.
