NEW HAMPSHIRE RACCOONS!

Rig Dog'N out the front window!

Red Fever's Darkside ( Rip X Maggie) AT ten Months. Let her go from the rig and she had these three coons up different trees. These are some deep woods swap coons.

Brandon, sounds like Bruizer is coming along nicely! Keep up the good work with him!

Scott, Steve, and Mike......Miss Daffney looks awesome! And that last picture is neat, she looks really intense on the tree! Keep up the good work with both girls!

Friday night (11/13) Aubrey took Clyde and Star and went hunting with his brother-in-law, nephews, and Abram. They treed 4 and caught 2 on the ground. He had a great time taking the boys, and I think they had a pretty good time too! Last night (11/14) Carl and Aubrey took Ox and Chief. Here's a few pics:

Star & Clyde treeing, and the boys looking at the coon

Aubrey and Bill Gudgeon hit the woods last night and had a great time. 1 den tree, 1 bulldoze pile, and 3 singles. It sounds like Moon is progressing extremely well, and Aubrey says she is ready for the hunts......Keep up the good work with her, Bill! Here's pics:

New Hampshire Coon

We pulled another all nighter! Coon hunting has taken over and it's way too fun. We were greeting the deer hunters as we pulled out of the park this morning. Daffney, PR Red Fever Dark Side, at 11 months has become our rig dog and works out of the front seat of the Fj and is doing great. She winded a big boar tonight, like 27 pounds worth, and tried to blow the roof off the truck getting us to stop. Took her a couple minutes to locate the tree but she did it once again for us. First time we had the opportunity to watch her run around with her head up searching for the coon. Amazing to think she can strike at 20 mph.

It was our first coon that had a muzzle full of porky pine quils. Better the coon than the dog as far as we are concerned.

Will post pics later

-Scott

Troubles

Tonight, was just one of those nights,..... We were rigging Daffney, out the truck window. As the gravel road winded its way past the base of a mountain she struck hard. She was going crazy, we figured it was a hot track and we got Ellie May, out of the box so they could run this one together. Both dogs were on fire and filling the empty evening air with sound. We were all excited and cut them.

Off they went, fully open running up the mountain side. Sounded perfect, 100 , 150, 200, 300 yards and still wide open as we paced back and forth at the truck waiting for the locate and chop. Finally we had a couple bays and complete silence? We marked the spot on the garmin and took off wondering what happened as the dogs could not have lost this track.

The dogs were still reading treed on the garmin as we crested the first 900 foot climb. On ward and upward we went, then as fast as they left us here come the dogs backk. Disappointment was soon forgotten because one look at the dogs explained the sudden silence.

Quills, Quills, Quills, in both dogs. Looked liked they were playing tug of war!

Stuff that nightmares are made of, yuck.

The only thing we can think is they were running a coon and slammed onto the porky pine and just bailed into it?

I really hope they learned something from this one, ouch ouch ouch.

Scott

Hey Scott. Quill me baby one more time. LOL
If it happens more than once, they've developed a hatred for them. You're gonna have to break both probably to be safe.
You would think that would almost be a self breaking habit wouldn't you?
A bluetick I inhertited after my best friend died developed a hatred for them. When I finally got him. He came with a face full of quills. It was his fifth time in like a month. He wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed.
His face was so swollen and infected, we took to the UW Vet school in Madison. My wife worked there at the time. She got him in under a teaching study. So the price was right. "Free"
Thankfully we don't have them in this part of the state.
He was on antibiotics for quite a while. I don't remember what tho.
Good luck.
Scott

We will be happy to share some of our quill pigs, please let us send some your way.

The "NOT" so funny part of the whole night, it was our maiden trip with our tri tronics trash breaker system. Didn't even use it not even a tone.

Ready for next time.
