Took Hardware to the Vet today. They pulled the pin out of his leg this morning. Vet said Hardware looked good and released him. Said to take it slow for a few weeks and ease him back to hunting condition. I'm glad its over with and sure Hardware is too. During all this Hardware has shown he can be an excellent house dog. I have enjoyed having him in the house with me. So, we will take it slow and try to get Hardware back up and running full steam again, who knows may even hit a hunt or two in the future with him.

A buddy of mine stopped by and picked Zeus up to hunt with him tonight. First time he called Zeus was treed on a den down in a creek bottom. Just got off the phone with my buddy and this time Zeus was treed out in the middle of a lake on an island.My buddy asked if he could call Zeus off the tree, I told him heck no you are going to have to pry him off the tree. Buddy said he has the coon on the outside and luckily the lake is frozen hard enough to cross. Tonight is the first night Zeus has been out during season. Buddy just called back said he had 3 coon in the tree and harvested 1. Sounds like he is going to drop him one more time tonight before he calls it a night.

How's Enlow doing? I heard last time he hunted with you in the cold rain he ended up sick and had hypothermia. Guess he is over all that now. John your going to have to take it easy on those young guys. They ain't tough as nails like you are.

Hardware broke his back leg on the night of 11-19-13 and had not been out since That night he was treed with the coon with his leg dangling He had to walk out on his own, cause it was too far back to the truck and too rough and muddy to carry him. We made it out and to a Vet. 2 days later Hardware was in surgery getting his leg pinned and wired back together. From that point Hardware spent 12 weeks in my house healing up. His leg healed good and I moved him back outside after the bad cold weather passed. Well, tonight Hardware must have decided he has been laid up long enough. I left here late in the evening to deliver a young male hound. When I get home I hear a hound in the distance treed. The more I listened, I thought thats my dog Hardware. Hardware is a known escape artist, chains, pens it don't matter he will eventually figure out how to get loose. Well, I can say he still knows how to get loose. Anyway, I throw on my light and head to him. He is treed on a big oak den with the coon out on a limb. I could tell he had been there awhile. he was wet with slobbers down his chest. I could also tell he was happy to be out and proud of himself. Hardware is a good ole' solid coon dog with a lot of heart. He is getting some age on him now, buts still acts like a young hound. I need to get him out more often now that his leg is healed up.

Just talked to some men from Iowa. They have a Nitech female that they plan on breeding to Hardware when she comes in, which should be soon. We have been in contact for several months now, just waiting for her to come in. Hardware will enjoy meeting her. I hope it all works out well. I'll give more info once the breeding has taken place. Just want to say thanks guys(Larry and Monty) for choosing Hardware as the stud for your fine female.

Bash is a nice young hound, that I really enjoy hunting. Bash has a good handle on him. Bash will be my primary hound this coon season. Nice track and tree dog. Head full of sense and a good looking well made bluetick hound in my opinion. Bash's pedigree is loaded with Top reproducers and Top coondogs. Bash's first litter of pups is due around Oct. 18. Bash was bred to a nice female out in Iowa that is loaded with the old Davis' Blue Scooter Blood. Dual Grand Davis' Blue Scooter and Dual Grand Harpeth River Blue Joe were full brothers. Both being out of the great REBEL X SADIE MAE cross. When Bash was around 3 months old, I remember telling myself he would be my next stud dog, we will see. Bash was an early natural starter. Running and treeing with his mom (Dual Grand Anderson Fox Creek Penny) at 4 months old. Split treeing, holding pressure with the coon at 7 months old. He has never been pushed hard, with just hunting him every so often. Most everybody that has ever hunted with Bash has liked him.

Decided to take Bash out by himself for a spin last night. We made 5 seperate drops The longest drop from tailgate to tree was just under 10 minutes. 4 out the 5 drops he was stuck under the first 30 seconds and treed with in a couple minutes. Things sure were happening fast last night. The 10 minute drop he just fell treed. 1st tree couldn't find the coon, I believe he may have missed on that one. 2nd drop, excellent job in some thick hunting treed with the coon seen. 3rd drop, was the 10 minute drop with him falling treed. This was a hard tree to shine and couldn't find the coon. 4th drop, was a den tree. The 5th drop, 2 or 3 track barks and slammed a tree, which the coon was seen. All in all not a bad hunt. I have had Bash laid up for most of the last 4 months. Hopefully and plans are I can get him out a little more regular now. Below are few pics of last nights hunt:

WELL WE HAD A PRETTY GOOD TIME AT THE OILFIELD $5000 THIS PAST WEEKEND. I ENTERED ZEUS AND A FRIEND OF MINE HANDLED HIM. ZEUS' EARLY ROUND WENT WELL AND HE LOOKED GOOD. HE LED THE CAST MOST OF THE HUNT, BUT LOST IN THE LAST MINUTES. HE AND THE WINNING DOG WERE SPLIT 50 YRDS APART. THE WINNING DOG NEEDED A COON TO WIN AND SHE HAD IT. ZEUS HAD A CIRCLE TREE, THEY JUST NEEDED TO SEE HIS COON TO WIN. I WAS HAPPY WITH HIS PERFORMANCE. 350 PLUS AND 500 CIRCLE WITH NO MINUS, MADE 8 TREES. LOST BY 75 IN THE LAST MINUTES. I WOULD LIKE TO THANK MY FRIEND ALEX FOR HANDLING HIM IN THE HUNT FOR ME AND FOR LOSING MY GARMIN HAND HELD. , NOT HAPPY ABOUT THAT! WE ALSO HAD KRYPT IN OILFIELD $5000. KRYPT IS CO OWNED WITH TONY AND AUSTIN LANE WITH AUSTIN HANDLING HIM. AUSTIN AND KRYPT MADE IT TO THE SEMI FINALS ON SATURDAY NIGHT. KRYPT INJURED A BACK LEG AND WOULD NOT HARDLY STAND ON IT. IT WAS STILL BOTHERING HIM SATURDAY NIGHT. WE GAVE IT A TRY, HE DID OKAY , BUT WASN'T 100%, AND AUSTIN WITHDREW HIM KNOWING THAT. WE WERE HAPPY WITH HIS PERFORMANCE. I SPENT MOST OF MY TIME GETTING CAST CARDS READY AND WAITING FOR CASTS TO COMEBACK TO RECAST THEM FOR THE LATE ROUNDS. BOY, I WAS GLAD TO GET BACK TO WORK.

ALSO GOT THE NEWS THAT BASH'S FIRST LITTER HIT THE GROUND LAST WEEK. THE FEMALE WE BRED WAS A FULL OLDER SISTER TO THE IOWA STATE QUEEN OF HUNT THIS YEAR. Coon season came in Nov. 10 th here. I have only been out a couple times. The hunting hasn't been great but has been fair. Temps have dropped a bunch, early cold for around here. I have only hunted my Bash dog so far. I have had the oppurtunity to hunt with John Bishop and Nate Reynolds some this season. John just recently got a nice female named Kelly(Jack x Thunder) he has been hunting some. I got to hunt with John and Kelly opening night. We turned Kelly out by herself, kicked dirt in our face and gone. She's a little rusty, but John will have her in shape in no time. We got her off a big oak 3/4 mile from where we turned loose, treed with the coon. I then got to go with Nate some. Nate hunted a young female named Daisy(Jack x Sissy), this young female is a little firecraker. Nate also hunted a 5 month old pup named Whitey(Sonic x Lil), Whitey is a grand pup to Jack. We turned Daisy and Whitey out together opening night. First drop they were split tree less than 20 yrds apart. Whitey had a den tree with a greaser in it. Daisy treed on a big oak with a coon. Second drop had them treed together on a den. Later that night Bash and I decided to hunt a few of my spots.Bash treed 2 singles, a pine tree(maybe, maybe not), a hole in the ground in the middle of some rough rough crap, liked to tore my ear off on that deal. Met up with Nate the other night to cut them loose again. This time we hunted Daisy and Bash together. First drop was a slick den. We cut from there and tree in a pond over flow. We moved out and added Whitey to the hunt. Cut them loose, race horsed a little, ended up working back towards us some and came treed on a big oak den. I told Nate I was head back to the house and was going to drop Bash by himself a couple times. First drop with Bash, fell treed on a den. Next drop, fell treed on a den, this coon made the mistake of being on the outside. I am certain that this den tree was the same tree Bash made by himself a couple years ago when he was 7 months olds( his 1st split tree), he was split 100yrds or so from his half brother Zeus on that night.
