The "mule skinners" were out in force last night! Aubrey, Marvin Webster of MO, and Terry Goza of IA, went out coonhunting last night on the mules. Took Marv's leopardXwalker pup, Joe, our Clyde and OX, and Terry's pup Star....which is a neice to Clyde. They had a great time....had a couple nice cornfield chases, and caught one on the ground. Here's a few pics:

Marvin & Rusty, Aub & Laura, and Terry & Jackson....and the dogs

Clyde and Marv's Joe

Ox and Terry's Star

Laura and the coon. This was Laura's first coonhunt.....did pretty well for such a little midget

Friday Night/Saturday Morning Hunt Pics

I would like to point out that Brandon not smiling is in NO WAY the photographer's fault!!! He was given very specific instructions to smile and FAILED!!!! I was pretty shocked at 7:30 AM when Brandon walks in the bedroom, grabs my foot to wake me up, and asks me to come out and take pictures!! Pretty sure Edge is going to be tired for at least a solid week!!

One more....

Took Edge out last night where we went hunting Friday night. Figured the Red Fever power cleaned my supply out, but Edge made a tree in the exact same tree that Edge, Rocket and Ox treed on where all I was able to see was the coon's ear. This time no luck, that tree is just too leafy!! Re cast him from the tree and he got back on another corn field chase and finished it with 3 big coon in the tree... I left 2 for next time.

That's a nice coon, Brandon!

Scott, Steve, and Mike: You guys are doing a great job with Ellie Mae and Daffney! Thanks for the update & pics. Keep them in the woods, and keep us posted!

Aubrey and Marvin "mule skinner" Webster had another fun hunt with Clyde, Ox, Spice, and Joe........and the mules of course! Here's a couple pics:

Truck is back in action and I was able to take Edge along with Bruizer and Luna. First drop Edge went in and was treed within about 50 yards after being cut. Bruizer sniffed at the tree and stayed at the tree, but only whined a bit. Shot the coon out and Edge and Bruizer were all over it. Next drop, I was skinning the coon and Bruizer was still pretty interested in the coon. Luna and Edge ran a screamer to a den tree. Next drop Edge went in not saying anything and Bruizer and Luna came back and acted like puppies. Edge got struck so I started walking towards him. While I was walking I noticed Bruizer and Luna were gone. Pretty soon Edge was treed, just as he treed Bruizer struck and barked about every breath while still managing to fly. I'll be honest at first I thought he bumped a deer. Luna was right there with him barking every so often. They went into the woods about 100 yards or so and then I couldn't hear them so well cuz of the Fever River. I told Eric to go to Edge and I'd follow Bruizer and Luna. I got to a point where I felt like they were for sure running a deer and it would be quicker to go get the truck and drive around to head them off. I went to Edge, again a big den tree. As I was making that determination, Bruizer and Luna were still coming in hard. Luna ended up coming to where we were shining Edge's tree and Bruizer kept barkin track. I saw that he was near the edge of the woods before a big corn field, so I cut Edge in and Edge went to where I'd last head Bruizer and Edge came treed. I got to Edge and Bruizer was right there at the tree. As I was walking to him he was treeing a little. Both coon happened to measure 48" from nose to tail, but the 2nd was a little bigger in weight. It's not the finished product, but it's progress, and progress is good. I do remember Aubrey telling me that he was looking forward to me tellin him about how Bruizer flat out smoked a track, well there it happened!!

Now for show and tell, here's the first coon:

Here's the 2nd coon. I did act like a pack mule and haul this one out of the woods to get a weight. The scale that I used kept getting stuck at 26lbs. I hooked this coon on that scale and it busted thru 26lbs and stopped at 30lbs. Not sure how accurate that is though....

looks like u guys are treeing and killing some coon, looks like a good time. ur harvesting methods are much different then mine, sounds bad but i shoot em and leave em lay, most of the time i just tree em and leave em, im just not into the killing of coon like i used to be. i shoot em if i got a young dog with, out of the 30 trees so far this season maybe i shot 5 out. i must be getting old lol!!

$3.00 hides can do that. I figure my young dogs this year could use a good kill season. Might have more of a value than just the money?? I'm still not shooting every one I've seen, but taking the majority. Even if I took 200, there will still be plenty next year, pretty sure of it....

YEAH! Go Bruizer! Sounds like it was a fun night for you and your young dogs, Brandon. Those are some nice looking coon too!

Aubrey waited till a little later to go out last night since it was SOOO WINDY! Took Foxxy, Clyde, and River - treed 6 and caught 1 on the ground. Here's a few pics:

I need corn rows that wide!!! I could chase the dogs with my truck and not knock any corn down!!!!

I was gonna let you know that I'm off this upcoming week Monday - Sunday. Not sure when I'll be up that way (to stay) but if Aubrey wanted to do any hunting let me know. I'll try and go every night, but I'm also going to try and be sitting in a treestand every morning too at daybreak. Keyword "try"...

Finally got out tonight. Just been lousy weather and driving an hour and 20 minutes one way to work.
First drop. One hour corn field race. Den tree. Why not. LOL
Tater settling in on the tree. Can you call him???

At the den...

Second drop. They put one up right away and had the meat.

Forgot this. Best part of the whole day. Bumpa went trick or treating with his grandson. He melts me.

Aubrey and Ann. Here is a pic of LuLu on the tree with the meat. She's starting to figure the treeing thing out. Doing better every time out. Tonight LuLu, Queen(english pup) and stalker were chasing a litter around a corn field for about a half an hour when LuLu and Queen started treeing. Stalker(pup trainer) was still tracking in the corn. The pups treed by themselves pretty good for about 5 minutes and then stalker came in to the tree and man did them pups really tear into treeing hard and fast. Must have been waiting for approval of old dog to make sure they were right! Last night LuLu and Queen caught a jumbo on the ground. Hopefully we can get together and hunt again this fall.

Scott Brown, nice vids (yep, both Aub & I can call him. He sounds just like his daddy ) and cute pic of Joni and Andre...what is Joni supposed to be?? A jailbird??

Scott S., Thanks for the update and pics of Lulu. She is looking great, and it sounds like she is doing great too. Keep up the good work and keep us posted.

Aubrey and Marvin went out Saturday and Sunday night. Ox, Star, Spice, and Joe went on Saturday night, and they took Clyde, Star, and Joe Sunday night. Both were good nights, but Sunday night was especially good - they treed 10 coon and caught one on the ground. Here's a few pics:

Nice pics Ann & Aubrey! I've been tryin' to call but I guess Aubrey doesn't want to talk to me. haha Just kiding! All in one week Moon has tracked treed her own coon. She has treed lay ups and as of tonight caught one on the ground. For some stupid reason Mandy has enjoyed playing with SKUNKS lately! I'll try you guys tomorrow. Take care.

Sounds like Moon is progressing really well, Bill. Keep up the good work with her!

Aubrey and Marvin went hunting again last night. Took Ox, Foxxy, and Joe and treed seven coon......you'll notice however that there are only six in the picture......one fell off the saddle in the woods.

Truck needs some work, so no hunting last night for Aubrey, but Wednesday night (11/4) he went hunting with some of the ladies Maggie, Foxxy, and Star and they got several treed. Following night (11/5) Aubrey took Ox and Foxxy, and our friend Jacob took his Clyde X Boo male - Rambler - hunting and treed 7. They also took their young sons with them and had a blast! Here's a few pics:

(11/5) Abram and Ox

Thanks Tom!

Scott Brown, Kenny Deal, Marvin Webster, and Aubrey hit the woods Saturday night and had a great time. Scott brought his JJ female and Tater (Rip X Maggie pup), Kenny brought Reb (Rip X Maggie pup), Aubrey took Ox, and Marvin tagged along for the ride. Saw 5 coon and shot 3. Here's a picture of the hunters before they headed out:

Bruizer Update

Saturday night while Edge had a good corn field chase going, Bruizer decided to go in and assist him and ended up catching the coon on the ground. I heard the snarl, but the coon was able to get out of the corn and up a tree.

Cut Edge, Bruizer, Cheif, and Dan in again, and all 4 ran ran really hard. Dad said he could hear the big coon snortin' as it ran by, and it wasn't very slow!! Must be some of them Mississippi River bluff "ridge runners" that my flatland dogs cant keep up to!!!
