Kevin, Im very insterested in a female pup out of Guage and Maggie. I cruised back through this thread, but couldnt find her pedigree. Could you pleas post it. Paul Currie always kept my type of hound. I believe this cross will be extra special. PM me a price and I'll see if I can dig up some money. Thanks. Philip Farrish

Philip
I'll post her ped tomorrow.
Glad to hear you want one of these pups. I have admired your hounds for some time and intend to get something out of your stuff at some point, so if Maggie has enough I will give you one. You will have to pay the performance and the superstakes, then at some point in the future i'll get a pup back from you to mix into my stuff here!! I am so excited for these pups because I really really like Maggie a great deal.
I will start a Maggie pup list soon but that makes 2 or 3 spoke for and we are keepin most of them for us. Let me know if that sounds ok to you.
Keep in touch
Kevin

Kevin, sounds like a deal. I'll promise you that she will be given a chance and will be put in the hunts. UKC and PKC. I saw where Maggie was bred in my new Prohound. I have just recently started messing with the PKC, but I like it. I hope she has enough for me to get one.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to you to Danny. Yes I got the video but as soon as you get to feeling better you will have to make one of them on a tree!! Thanks for keeping Shadow for me till his new owner gets him picked up. That deal worked out pretty well for getting your gauge/sage pup home.I sure hope Tomahawk makes the cut as I was really not to keen on selling Shadow just yet as I know his best days are ahead of him.
However you cant keep em all and nothin gets a man more excited to hunt than a new promising prospect. If anybody can tell if a young one is gonna make it you can so hope you heal quick!!!! LOL

Looking back I need to thank everyone that brought thier good females to Gauge last year! I certainly appreciate it and hope these young hounds do thier part for thier owners.
We had a few planned crosses that did not happen despite our efforts. Hemi, Snooter, Hugger11, and Angel. But as everything seems to go in a circle hopefully we will get em w/ pups this year.
Again a very Happy New Year to all.

I'm

Curious how gauge blood would cross with my blood. I might have good cross that will make coon dogs in a year or two.

Thats an interesting pedigree I was thinking he was a jet dog totally . The Buillet dog is a S.R. dog is this correct ? Was northern blue jet 8 an outcross also ? I am thinking some of the most puriest blutick blood was put in him through the Utchman line. At all the major events and through other sources talk of a purebreed bluetick always comes up and it seems most lines are not true bluetick blood. All folks that talk of the Utchman line say they have continued with true pure blood without the adding of other breeds . Seems as if this thing of using other breeds to cross on the blueticks would be a reson to ban breeders doing such a thing .

Gauge is a good mixture of Jet, Utchman,Smokey River, and even a shot of Spanky in there. I like this a great deal because it allows him to have great results with most lines. Having said that I measure great results as having a high percentage of a litter (that are givin a shot )showing natural ability to tree a coon.

Now I don't know what you are trying to say but I assure you that I dont feel that outcrosses within the breed are harmful!! I like to linebreed as well but everynow and then a little shot of a different line is helpful. Gauge is a product of Chuck Coats breeding 9 generations of good females to the studs that he felt would cross well with the good female he was breeding.
I don't claim to understand what makes Gauge reproduce,or perform but I do recognize that he does and I'm gonna roll with it.

Additionally if the female is a coondog especially a proven coondog I will be happy to make the cross regardless of strain or breed for that matter, because you never know where the one we are all looking for will come from.

Jim Hughes are you related to John Vaught known nowadays as Jason Trible???

Ummmmmmmmm seems he is loaded with the black hat man's bloodline as well ??? Maybe you will breed up a top blue hound that will shine each time she/he is turned into the dark. Something that is lacking and really stopping the bluetick breed is consistancy and track power. Lots of the blues are slow to med. track dogs and have trouble holding out in the larger hunts where the walker hound shines and repeats history each year in major events . Theres no where to go in breeding blueticks you have only a few of the traits needed to make a hound that will deliver and give a 100 % each time he is turned into the dark. Its like trying make a pot of good coffe and only having enough for two cups.

Yeah if you go back far enough there is Hammer. Wish some of the old hammer was closer. If one gets made here it will be by simply crossing females that can tree coons. I have been fortunate that Gauge has been bred to some fine females, that certainly can't hurt. Sage has some of the old hammer in her and I am hoping the pups will be some good ones. Incidently I find boo hooing and slow track speed annoying and try to stay away from it as much as possible, unfortunatly on the right night there is still some that goes on here.
As far as no where to go if that's how you feel you should follow your Walker hound to thier board!! I like the good walkers, and there are plenty of them here locally.

Happy New Year Jim Hughes aka Jason Trible aka John Vaught.

All you there is Hammer ........what are you using in your hounds there that are not Hammer....Jet = Hammer S.R /Hammer................Spanky /Hammer......Where have you added any other blood that puts you that far away from the Hammer blood.......not for sure about the Uhctman blood that was put into the jet dogs starting with Northern Blue Jet VI. then VIII got another shot of the Uhctman BLOOD......no doubt about the good walkers they continue to dominate the hunts.....I hope you come up with a blue hound that can do better than they have for the last 50 ............60 years.............no offense to you ........YOU ARE A PATIENT MAN

Thats the Hammer showing!!!!! LOL See what we get for following your advice.

They are in thier gangly stage at 5 or 6 mos old and even there i find them acceptable, when they get fully grown i'll stack em right and see if they meet your approval. You never know for certain but i'll bet they will look better streched up on a tree before to long.
