2003
2003?? Man, I would have to think on it a while just to remember who I was married to in 2003 or if I was even married, lol! But, I had my wife look it up and it looks like Newman had 8 wins but Kenseth won the Championship and Jimmie came in 2nd, JR. 3rd, Gordon 4th, Harvick 5th and Newman, with 8 wins came in 6th. That bites. One heck of a year to finish like that, just like what happened with Bad Brad last year with 6 wins and didn't make the final 4 and we had Hamlin with one and Newman with none. Just shows no matter how many wins you got, if luck and the breaks aren't on your side, you lose. I feel like its good for the sport AND that the fans want to see someone with at least a couple wins AND consistency every race win the Championship, unless its Jimmie Johnson. The only thing that will stop that 48 team from getting number 7 is Bad Luck. They found their speed at the end of last year and they are bringing it this year. Love him or hate him, NO ONE can drive closer to the edge of losing control and win the race. Don't hurt to have the best crew chief either.
