I drove to Lake City, Fla. last week to pick up a car. Stopped off in S Ga. to eat and lo and behold Barry Danforth walked over to say hi. We talked as long as possible. Back on page 1 of this site is a photo of Delta Dash when Barry owned him. Barry ask about several people since he has been out of it for awhile. The task fell to me to report on those that are no longer with us. He still has the itch and we left with assurances of him calling should he start to scratch! Charlie-he said tell you hey-jus did.

Grand American

John Vanderbeck and Wayne Wilmoth at the Grand American. So many people stopped by to pay their dues and just to visit. Ken Herman and I have been talking back and forth on the computer. He has a ton of pictures from over the years. Hope to share some of these with you as they become available. Francis and his son Scott Wilmoth were also in Orangeburg. Francis and I talked for quite awhile. Much of our conversation was about our friends and their dogs who are no longer with us. Not ashamed to say that at times no one there had a dry eye. Thank you to everyone who stopped by.

At the BBCHA table in Orangeburg, SC. Harry Ennis, his son and grandsons with John Vanderbeck. We took some pictures of Francis Wilmoth, just not on my camera. Hope they are on Johns. For us it was real cold. Rain and ice greeted everyone on Thursday-so Friday morning slush conditions were all over the Fairgrounds. Nothing dampened the spirits of the Bluetick people who stopped by the table. Many I had not seen in years.

Check out this ole Warrior. Can you tell me what his kennel name was? Can you tell me the names of just a couple of the dogs he sired? This should be required knowledge before you are allowed to even own a Bluetick. I was given his papers by his owner-absolutely one of the finest men I have ever had the pleasure to call my friend-Mr Ed Meeks.

Thanks Tom. Mountain Music Blue and Blaze were from this cross, as was Vaughn's Blue Fly. Any direction or any line of Blue dogs with the possible exception of the all Blues, you will find these dogs in their pedigrees. Old Scott's papers were changed from English to Bluetick. I have Fly's papers and she is still listed as English on hers.

I just received one of those bad phone calls you hate to get. I will let him post the news as he sees fit. Will say it is important to enjoy these dogs while you have them because as we know in life there are no guarantees. We also know they do not live forever. What was a good started young dog becomes that aging veteran before we are ready for it. All too many times it is nearly impossible to replace one like that-in fact you really never do. I have been there. One minute you think you are on top of the world and something like this happens and you are convinced you are at the bottom. So go pet Ole Blue-while you still can!

By now most of you realize I was talking about John's Lonesome in my last post on here. Kenny Jones' call to me about Bawler and Ed Mead's call about 6 Again-both just about knocked me to my knees, as did this call about Lonesome. Time as a way of healing all wounds, but this one is going to take a long Lonesome time-so very sorry John.

thanks c.w. took him back to the woods and laid him to rest .that turn loose is probably going down in my coon hunting history as the very saddest moment ive endured with this sport, not that he was a super hound but one that i got attached too and lived to please me, still chuckle because when i got to the tree and it was a miss all i had to say was what the f___ and he just got down and went on. no ? s asked people were amazed by that.thankyou again for being so supportive with these hounds ED and YOU have worked so hard to make!!!

Bo thanks for posting the photo of Jake. I have been reading back over different post and peoples thoughts on our Blueticks, the various lines and where we are at and headed. Some think that we have not won the World Hunt because of our breeding methods or loyalty to an individual line. In direct opposition to that train of thought I feel we could have more success if people were concentrating more on maintaining distinct lines. I invite you to weigh in on this regardless of your opinion(s). To people who simply want to have a winner on the end of their leash, all this other stuff does not matter. Some in their efforts have actually gone so far as to breed to different breeds-that is known as hybrid vigor. Some have indicated that-because none of the Bluetick lines have done it before, they cannot be expected to do it in the future. Think about it, collect your thoughts and then respond if you wish. A constructive exchange can benefit us all or at least get you to perhaps think differently-or even renforce what you already believe.

So if a bluetick were to win the World Hunt all of our breeding problems/issues will be solved? A lot to ask in a dog and its handler that has to get the right breaks for a period of 2.5 weeks.
