That first one, ay kawrn, do you see how the r is almost hidden? Well that's how we say it, almost like ay kawn. It's almost taboo to roll an R around here. Actually, c o r n gets about as much of an R as you'll find. I'll agree corn gets more R than acorn. LOL Here's another, "Mop the floor" . My mother might say flo. But if she's in proper company she might say floah. But you got to be careful there too because you can easily turn floor into a two syllable word and really sound like an idiot. Senator Fritz Hollings was the best at it I ever saw when he'd say The great state of South Carolina, he'd throw his head back and say the GRAYEUT STAYUT ofsacalina. How he could turn one syllable words into two and even three syllables and then give the remaining seven syllables only enough space to fit on one I'll never know!
There was a game show where they give hints to the right answer. The answer was "buck" so Allen Alda said "doe" . The poor black guy answered "knob" . They laughed so much they had to go to commercials. I felt sorry for him 'cause it could have been me.
