Zig

Hi,

Took Zig off the chain and took him to a HTX hunt. Treed 2 coons in the hour and passed. I haven't had him off the chain since last March.

Trap and Iron Man

Hi,

Starke's Finley River Trap and Starke's Finley River Iron Man both finished their Bench Ch degrees last weekend.

Trap is out of Zig's sister, Dual Gr. Ch. Finley River Crystal, and will be bred to Zig this spring. That cross will put Nt. Ch. Finley River Chief in the pups pedigree over 300 times.

Iron Man is a son of Zig and has been bred to Gr. Ch. Starke's Table Rock Jewell and he will finish to Gr. Ch. easy. Jewell was 2010 MCHF State Hunt Queen of Show, 2012 MCHF Show Dog of the Year, 2012 UKC Top 10. These pups will be nice dual purpose hounds. Jewell's mother is Nt. Ch. Gr. Ch. Table Rock Pearl. Pearl won 2 RQE's and at The Battle of the Breeds to win her Nt. Ch. degree.

Gr. Ch. UKC 1st place win Finley River Zig HTX

Hi,

Took Zig to a Hunt Test Friday night. Basically hunted in a pasture with little draws and fence rows. Zig passed with no faults.

Took Zig to a Hunt Test Saturday night. Hunted in a bottom with corn and a creek. Zig passed with no faults.

That made three hunts in a row and 3 passes. Zig earned his HTX degree. Thanks to all the guides and judges. Really enjoyed the hunts.

Congratulation Robert...I knew that Zig wouldn't have a problem on the HTX Hunt Tests.

Finley River Jake

zig x jane pup

Season opened Saturday night Sunday morning. Jake struck a track out in a standing corn field. I was beginning to want to move on because he had been in there a long time. He was not barking much, he is very tight mouthed. He finally worked it out and got treed. Treed pretty good. When I got to the tree there was two coons up there. Both of them were massive boar coon. I led him a ways and cut him loose again and he immediately treed another coon. Jake had a pretty good night.

Hi,

Sounds like he did a good job for a dog who just started. How many has he treed by himself before you finally shot one down to him? He will open more the more he is hunted. Alot of young dogs would have barked and barked and barked in that cornfield. Sounds like he is very smart. Strikes and drifts like his sire, Gr. Ch. Finley River Zig HTX. Call me if you ever want to sell that dog.

He probably treed a half dozen by himself before I was able to shoot one down.
He ran another one out of standing corn Monday night. Very quiet on track. He got treed. It took me some time to cross that standing corn. When I got there he was milling around a little. I tied him, as I always do. The tree had a lot of vines in it and a limb broke out to another tree. I couldn't find the coon, but it certainly could have been there. Jake looked at me so funny, like he was saying come on shoot it! Have you seen dogs that will tree till you get to the tree and then quiet down and just wait for you? I think he may be that way a little.

Hi,

Trap, Dancer, Jane were all that way. They were smart enough to know when you got there and tied them, the coon was coming out. Why bark? You have a super smart dog. He will bark more on track, the more experience he gets. He is striking and then drifting the track. He is concentrating on the track. I hate a mouthy dog that barks every time he takes a step. I like a drifting, fast track dog with an excellent cold nose. He is showing those characteristics. If you want to sell him, just let me know.

Several young dogs that had treed 6 coons by themselves and had not had a coon shot down to them would be doing a lot of things wrong. This young dog has a head full of sense.

Iron Man X Jewell pups

Hi,

Jewell's mother, Nt. Ch. Gr. Ch. Table Rock Pearl, was High Scoring Dog on Friday night at the Missouri Coonhunters Federation Finals in October. Kenny Overby hunted her. Her score was 600+. Congrats Pearl and Kenny.

These pups will be dual purpose. Finley River, Rambler, Mundo, and Lipper blood.

Hi,

I also like a dog that is tight mouth on track. Jake is coming along nicely.
Last night he made one den and one big leafy oak. I couldn't get the coon to look. The moon was big and some frost fell. There's still some snow laying in the shaded areas of woods.
