I'm not going anywhere this weekend. Staying home and hunting Robin by herself. Getting ready for the Federation State hunt next weekend at Cole Camp.
Last week I was disappointed in Robins performance. She had the opportunity to take the cast by storm but stood on her head in a corn field. She had split away from all the turmoil at the trees and got in by herself about 1/2 mile and just bombed out.

from Vicky Perkins and Barley Ray finished to Gand Show Champion last night. Not bad for a 13 month old pup. He's out of my old RoosterII dog and Robbie Brooks GrCh Mad Dog Sweet Pea II(aka Nickie). Vickey said he is coon crazy and making a good tree dog also. He has caught one on the ground too. I think I have some pic's of him some where and will try to post them later. CONGRATS Vicky..actually her grand Daughter Morgan showed him so CONGRATS Morgan! I think this is the second time Morgan has showed Barley and won.

Hunted last night and Robin worked in deep to hit a coon. Lost her on the garmin at .7 mi. in and drove around and found her still in another 400 yrds. Had the coon. Made a couple more dumps that didn't go as well. Going again tonight.

called and he is going to try and make a hunt with us later. He has a real nice female and is working at trying to finish her this fall. Bud thought that Smoke would be the best bet to breed her to. Ought to be some speed deamon treeing machines out of this cross. Thanks Richard for calling.

Smoke by himself. Cut loose in a bean field and he hit and ran a hot one a short ways and put it up. Couldn't get across the creek so had to walk around to get to him. Had a small coon up a mulbeery tree. Next deal turned loose on a creek next to a corn field on one side and beans on the other. Smoke struck in about 480 yrds and brought it back toward me. Crossed the road under the bridge and ran a good track for another 386 yrds on the Garmin. One big locate and it was all over. He was on a big thorn tree and had the meat. Had a good hunt and decided to go on home.

We are not able to make AO this year. Spent too much money too early!!!haha
Hunting has been good and we are trying to keep the good dogs tuned and start a couple of young dogs. All out of Turk.
Got some little Smokies coming, they should be born the mid of Oct. Excited about them.
Robin seems to have gone backwards a little after being in heat and trying to fine tune her right now. She looked good night before last and I will hunt her again tonight. She just needs some more alone time in the woods. Right now her ears are too big!!!

Tell the boys hi and keep the dogs in the timber, see you guys in Nov.

As you know, that's what happens when we hunt females. That's one thing I like about all of us. We hunt our females. I think it sets these crosses apart from others.

I know you are excited about the Smoke litter. They should make some tree dogs. We are going to ao but it will be costly. We are looking forward to seeing many of our friends there and that will make it worth it.

last night. Hunted Robin alone and she struck off the lead. Worked out into a corn field and got it up and running. Sad part is, thats all it was for an hour soild. Runnin hard and not near any water the race took it toll on the little girl and she made a loop out next to the road and quit. I keep water in the truck and she was wanting in the truck. Checked the temp. and it was still 92 deg. So we both quit and went home.

Don't know how ready she is but she will be there. Guess I will see if the hunting this past two weeks has paid off or not. Smoke is ready. He's allways ready. Ole Smoke is just solid no matter if you hunt him 1 time a week or every night.
I think I'm more interested in seeing how Robin reacts to strange dogs after the heavy weight match she had to go through at the quilifer. I know one thing, if I draw fighting dogs again, some body is going home!!! I'll make sure they are wrote up this time!
That goes for growling handlers too. Just tired of what people get away with. Well, got that out of my system. Anyway Timmy and I will be there.

Smoke lost his cast by 25 points friday night. Got a lot of compliments on him. His last tree was a circle tree that cost him the win.
Robin won her cast friday night with 325 plus and no minus. Had first and second on the first coon and then struck back in for 25 behind a dog still holding strike open and got left handed and got first tree on the second coon. She did a good job.
Saturday night Robin lost to a nice walker dog. They caught a coon on the ground on the first dump. Second coon she had second and second and the third coon she had third and second. She did good but was just out gunned.
Robin ended up the high scoring dog for the year in zone 8 of the federation.
Smoke ended up third high scoring dog for zone 8.
They are both qualified for the final hunt in october. So this next month we will be working towards being ready for the finals.

called and said that Mo got snake bit at the hunt this weekend. Mo's leg is all swelled up and is draining where the two punture marks are at. he has him on Vitamin K and antibiotics.
We might take Psyco and Robin for a spin tonight.
Might as well throw Smoke in for a dump also.

up another Turk pup. Turk X Wendy pup. I guess that makes number 5. All of them are 1/2 bro's and sisters out of Turk and different females. Going to be a busy fall training pups. Got two that we are starting now and I dont have to worry about Wendy's pup till spring.
Roading the old dogs in the late evening inorder to keep them in shape. Too hot to hunt right now but it is suppose to cool down this sunday and we will hit it then.

Out here in virginia around Norfolk and Richmond lookin at damage from hurricane. It didn't do to much but enough to generate some work. Wish had the dogs with me (not that i would have time) looks like some good huntin in places but pretty populated even in the country. It's up too dad to keep the dogs tuned up for the federation hunt.

It's still super dry here but the old dogs have been treeing some coon.
Robin is looking alot better this week. Kinda back to her old self.
Smoke is hunting hard and still makes it look easy.
Got the new pup from Tim ( Turk X Wendy ), named her Mad Dog Light Blue Breeze. Kind of leggy like her momma and smart as a whip.

I'm working 16 hrs a day again, back to 10 or more hrs thru the weekend. So I wont be going anywhere. On the 10 or more hrs atleast I can hunt when I get home.
