This thread's not contained a voice recording in a while. This one gives you an idea what Frito sounds like when struck. Turn it up or use earbuds and you will hear him splashing in the water as he moves it out along a pristine northwoods lakeshore. The other great thing about this is you will hear his clear, strong bawls echo off the aspen forest edge from across the lake. I wish he'd a popped this coon up within hearing so I'd have a recording of his locate which is similar. I have a full length recording of this track as he runs it out of hearing but the file size is too large to post.

If you have a voice recording of your dog send it to me. I'd enjoy hearing it. Coonhound mouths are fascinating and the best part of the experience.

Its been raining and 25-30 mph winds the past couple nights but the coons moved well in spite of the conditions. Last night, I sent Charlie into the woods and he treed a short distance away. Then pulled Frito out and fired him across a hayfield past Charlie. Frito only glanced in Charlie's direction as he lined out across the field straight to the woods 300 yards away. A few minutes later the Garmin said Frito treed downwind along a lake shore. The video shows Frito treed last night.

Still no leaves. I love it!!!!!!!!!

Last Friday, or should I say Saturday, Frito headed into the woods for a drop at roughly 3 AM. "When the dog is what you like it's hard to go home," as the old saying goes. I cut him a long way from the woods because I get a big kick watching him charge out across the hayfield. He knows coon habits and needs no help from me to find a track.

Well he didn't get very far before coming across a cold old track. He's not one to sort his tracks if he can line it out, and has a nice way of finishing most of them, or moves along to something better if a track dies on him.

This one for a few minutes made me doubt he could do it. He worked it hard and bogged down for a few minutes in a spot but didn't do the rerunning or false locating that drives you nuts. Just slugged it out until it heated up and there was his locate, then every breath treed. Probably not the track you want during a nite hunt but this was not a nite hunt... we were hunting coons like there was no tomorrow.

Frito is a well rounded hound. It shows that Frito has got it togeather to put a track like that to an end with the grease, not to many can do it.

Yes, Jay had the reins on Fargo in the hunt. They earned about $90 in Fargo's first time appearing on a scorecard. The two of them did just about everything right and got better as the clock ticked and the suspense built for a competitive end to the hunt. Man, when there was only a few minutes left and we heard Fargo open and locate about a mile away from the other dogs I thought we're witnessing the birth of a true competitor.

Congrats Jay and Fargo. Spring SS is a long way off... imagine how much better he'll be by then.

I found a sound clip from a few weeks ago of Super Charlie coming on a tree and hitting it with some hard locates, then rolling it over to a chop. He was way back in there a good distance so turn it up.

Nasty night, 4 or 5 bawls, he's gotta be a mile deep, alone, locate, sitting under another coon, he did it again, makes it look so easy...

That was way last fall when he was just getting started on his own.. he never looked back..I was still calling him copper then.. I sure like him.. the way he is going he might just end up being the best I ever cut loose. I like him
...Frito is producing the right kind.. and he don't need any coat tails to ride. :-)
