8-18-12 hunt
The weather has cooled off around here and the hours have slowed some at work. This has made it a little easier for me to run the hounds some. I went hunting last night by myself. I decided to take Zeus and Moe. Zeus hasn't been out for a while and has been waiting anxiously for the call. I hunted them one at a time for a couple drops then turned then loose a couple times together. Zeus, had a long corn field race that ended treed 10 yards from the road and 60 yrds from someones front door. The corn field was 1 mile by 3/4 mile. By the time he made it out of the corn he wore some hair off around his eyes. Came treed hard and intense. I didn't look the tree over very well because of being treed close to the house, I snap a picture and off we went. But was happy with his performance. Moe's turn, Moe was turn loose with nothing happening on one drop, but treed one by himself darn near right off the tailgate. Turn them both together, Zeus opens once, Moe falls treed and Zeus trees right behind him. I seen the coon going in but could not find it once I was in there. Turn them out again together, Zeus trees with Moe backing him. It is a large soft Maple tree, hard to shine, couldn't find the coon. I kept Zeus on the lead and recasted Moe. Moe goes 400 yds hits a track and trees another 100 yds in, which happens to be close to a road. He is in a bad cut over section. He is treed on a very large soft Maple, most likely a den left standing in the cut over. Once again very difficult to shine and I couldn't find the coon. It was getting late so we headed for home. Below are a couple pics of last nights hunt.
